This approach is correct increasing wire gauge will allow more current to pass through BUT the power bank must be a fast charging type with a port designed for fast charging. If the cable is a standard thinner gauge a fast charging power bank will automatically go to slow charge mode as it senses resistance in power transfer 😉

Yup, increase the wire gauge. Cheap cables come with really thin wire gauges.

The Nokia cable also has data pins, that's why it quickly switched to fast charging.

You need both the Male USB and Male Type C to have a high wattage rating in order to make this work. Although using thick wires on both power pins are correct because there's more room for current to flow you still need the Data pins to make it a fast charging because todays fast charging adapter/brick does not give all the power to the positive and negative power pins it utilities also the data pins.

So what exactly happened here? Were the data sections removed and only left with power and ground? The phone said 1.5 hours until full charge yes but it never updated to fast charging

@I'm not Beluga  I don't see how this is possible, with power exchange the phone and charger talk to each other over data pins, once charger and phone both verify, the charger switches modes and starts sending more than 5v, 9 volt is the next step up, then 12v. With newer quick charge and power exchange models you see 18v all the way to 45 volt, if the data lines are not present, the charger will stay in 5v 2a mode, which will about 4v and 1.6a of power to the phone, which is still regular charging. The only thing the process in this video achieves is removing itself from a data transfer cable which the phone believes it is plugged into a laptop and forces itself to charge at 500ma, or .5 amps, which if your phone charged at all would take 6 hours

don't invent or experiment with your charger, it's amazing, just buy a 5a/6a usb cable for sure and your cellphone won't break.

WHY does that work?
Do the female to female sockets share the same pin out arrangement?
I'm wanting to convert a "Battery case" from my old phone into a universal battery backup.
It currently has a Male Micro USB Out, so I need to make a flying lead with Female micro USB socket on one end to plug into it, and a standard USB Female type "A" socket on the other end for the output. ...Sound reasonable?
The 4000mAh battery (14.8Kwh) output is noted as 5v @ 1.6A max
The existing Micro USB female input is fine for charging the case battery, but for general back-up power duties a Female USB "A" Out is more useable for a wider variety of items.
Can you advise me?

with first cable your phone is saying "charging in 1 hour 26 min" after modification it says "charging in 1 hour 28 min" . so it basically slows down the charging process. i dont understand how it speed up charging

No data line so that the charger and phone can communicate about voltage and amperage capacities? You know that's part of the fast charging standard for most fast charging protocalls right? If this technique didn't work for you, that's likely why. Just say'n.
