I had a Boerboel by the name of Money. He’s the best dog I ever had. I got him at 3 months old and he was 40 pounds already. He topped out at 165-170. Very obedient but that’s because I started working with him early. Natural guard dog and he didn’t do a lot of barking. He just handled business. He enjoyed having 4 acres to run around on. This aren’t full time indoor dogs. They need their space, but mine behaved well while indoors.

The females are an absolute joy to own. The males are meant for farm life. They are amazing home protection, but again, the males, you have to have a firm hand and training. They are massive. We have had a formal and she was stunning temperament wise. Males, don’t even think of entering anywhere without the owner around and there must be a Man in household as far as I’m concerned. My Boerboel aimed to please from the moment he came to us. Breeder got terminal cancer and this last litter was suck in a big pen for 7 months fighting his siblings for food and fighter. He was 7 months and only 45lbs. He’s now almost 5 and he still listens and obeys better than any other dogs I have owned with honestly no training. Maybe we just got lucky. He walks off leash. His recall is always on point. He doesn’t chase or have a high prey drive. He’s also the laziest dog I have ever owned..

Got em and LOVE EM!!! We have 2 Boerboels, 2 Fila/Presa mix, Border collie, and an American Bully. Just lost our Italian Mastiff to cancer 1 month ago and still not healed 😢 let me tell ya.... they will go through about 160 in food a month EACH at 150+ lbs. So get your wallet ready to feed these amazing giant breeds!! Not easy when it comes to training with extremely consistent and FIRM corrections and lots of rewards for good behavior ive had loads of success with all my Mastiff breeds. (GET AN E COLLAR AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY)

My Boerboel Iroh died at 3 years.
Iroh came from a bad breeder and Iroh had hd on both hips and no knee joints.

One of my neighbors has a Turkish Boz to protect their farm animals. He is about 1 1/2 years old and is already about chest height on my 5' 5' frame, and he is around 180lbs. She feeds him 8 cups of food a day, and that is a lean diet to protect his growing joints. When he barks it is the deepest noise that I have ever heard a dog make before. Pretty sure he scares criminals away from our road. I have an 85lb Great Pyrenees, and 75 lb. Boxer, who look like his puppies when stading next to him. Together they eat as much as that one dog.
