If they were never caught, aren't they technically, 'The Best Serial Killers?'

When the cops went to arrest Dennis Rader (BTK Killer), they met him and then left without arresting him thinking "No, it couldn't be that guy."

The Cleveland Torso case has always been fascinating to me not only because I live there. There's been theories and a "main suspect" but it's been so long and crime science has processed so much since.

I'd love to see an episode/series of episodes about which cases inspired certain episodes of shows like Criminal Minds or Law and Order.

I bought a home in the West Mesa in 2007. One morning I woke up and looked out of my second floor window and saw tons of cops digging up and area about 200 yards from my house. It wasn't just a woman walking her dog that found the bones it was all the housing development going up in what used to be nothing but dirt with no homes within miles. There are probably a lot more grave sites that have not been found. One of the creepiest times in my life was watching the police for months excavate around my new housing area.

In talking about the New Orleans Axe Man, the narrator only talks about two of the victims (a husband and wife). In reality, several people had been killed in a similar fashion, first in 1911, followed by a seven or eight year hiatus, and then again in 1918-19.

I am not sure about that "Smiley face killer", it is such a common symbol that it is pretty likely to find one near any body of water and theories about a sect or group operating in several areas sounds like journalists who wants to sell newspaper. A single serial killer or even a team of 2-3 people, fine, that is possible but several groups sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.

The casual criminalist podcast goes over majority of these cases in detail in their own episode
