Ip man 4: The Final
After his wife died in 1964, Ip Man found out that he was suffering from throat cancer due to long-term smoking. After his rebellious son Ching Yeh battles school bullies and is subsequently expelled from school, Ip Man decides to head to San Francisco to pursue college opportunities. He confides Qing's thoughts to his friend Fat Bo, and promises to call Qing every night.
Yeh's student Bruce Lee opened the Wing Chun School, taught the martial arts to non-Chinese and wrote an English book on the martial arts, which angered the local martial arts community in San Francisco. [5] He learned from his friend Liang Gen that because Ye was a foreigner, he needed a letter of recommendation from the Chinese Association for the Advancement of China in order for Qing to be admitted to an American school. Master Wan Zhonghua, the president of the association, refused to write the letter because Yeh dismissed Li's actions, while other masters openly expressed their contempt. After a brief encounter with Wan that cracked the table, Ip left.
As Ye leaves school after meeting the principal, she happens upon Wan's teenage daughter, Yonah, who is being racially attacked by rival cheerleader Becky and her male friends. Yonah fights back, causing Becky to accidentally cut herself with a pair of scissors. She was eventually outnumbered and Ye stepped in to save her. He escorts Yonah home and Wan accuses Ip of just using his daughter to get the letter and challenges him. The duel is interrupted by an earthquake, and Wan tells Ye that they will end the fight on the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. Ip refuses, explaining that he is only taking Yonah home for her own safety, and leaves.

The final text on the screen states that Ye died of cancer in 1972 at the age of 79. The epilogue shows that Lee paid tribute to his master at Yeh's funeral, while other text shows that the Marines formally incorporated Chinese martial arts into their training in 2001.

I love how at the end, Chairman Wan gives off an attitude of "Jeez bro, it was just tea."

If y'all notice most of the masters in the table (including Wan) are masters of Northern Martial Arts

This was the weirdest fight in Ip Man. What a waste of a beautiful table

It's funny because in the real life Ipmam was the one who disagreed teaching Kung Fu to foreigners

This is not the first time already when nationalism hinder martial arts progress on chinese community.

Jet Li's master Huo in movie Fearless is another reallife historical martial artist. Master Huo wanted to promote mixed martial arts to combine all the best attributes of each form and styles together but receive heavy persecution at the start in foshan.

Even in painting too purist like pure watercolorist, pure acrylic painteer, pure oil painter dont really like mixed media artists.
Its still happening today!

This even happen in culinary even till today. Purist cuisine vs Fusion cuisine. Its like putting pineapple on pizza pissed a purist Itallian chef. Putting cheese in steamed dumplings pissed a purist Chinese chef. Adding milk in tea or coffee in purist Nordic tea or coffee drinkers.

Its Nationalism vs Embracing diversity.
Purist vs Mixed forms.
Purist vs Fusion of styles.
