Vauxhall Astra GTC hatchback review - CarBuyer

Good to look at and even better to drive, the Vauxhall Astra GTC is aimed at the likes of the Volkswagen Scirocco and Renault Megane Coupé. It's competitively priced and generously equipped. We particularly like the look of the car, and have been impressed by its sporty drive.

I fucking love storing a large bottle of water in my car.

When I get to the traffic lights I can crack it open and quaff away like a horse at a stream.

That car looks way way better and much more beautiful than the Siroco

The Astra GTC was designed in the UK by Vauxhall by the lead designer, a British man, called Mark Adams. Its designed specifically for British roads and is.fully engineered and built in England.

You couldn't be any less German if you tried!

I have the slowest Astra GTC but it's still brilliant, I'd recommend it to anyone

I’ve just acquired a GTC limited edition 1.6 petrol in white. I think it’s a fantastic car. I owned a Ford Focus 09 before so I consider this a major upgrade. The dashboard and heated seats are superb 😁

The old astra was not being sold in AU with a holden badge, however the 2012 model will be sold as an OPEL starting in september.

Drove my parents 2.0 diesel 3hrs to and from Birmingham.
Very comfortable, handles well and has some good power/torque.
Plenty to over take and get upto the speed limit quick enough.
Would recommend 👍🏻
Especially over the VW as they can be expensive

@schtekar. Thats the side of the road that we drive on in the UK. If you don't like it. Tough. :)

I recently got the 2.0 CDTi SRI version of the GTC; it's quite fun.

Only had a few problems so far. Visibility is a little bit bad around the 4 corners of the car. Not as bad as the Ford Puma's used to be bit it's still present. Also, the engine note is bad. It sounds like an agricultural engine. It like taking a super model out, having a great time, then noticing shes flatulent. ugh.

I don't regret having the 2.0 diesel over the 1.6 turbo. The sudden surge of power + happy fuel bill = :D

Matt, I have a question for you: what's your opinion on button style parking brake? Be honest please. As for me, I don't like them, I miss the traditional handbrake. And again, your opinion is valued, Matt.
