Opel / Vauxhall Astra hatchback 2013 review - CarBuyer

The Vauxhall Astra is no longer the dull, rep-friendly company car it once was. The current car is just as stylish as a Ford Focus and goes some way to challenge the VW Golf in terms of build quality and interior finish. There's a choice of three and five-door hatchbacks and a more practical estate, with a two-door Cascada convertible taking the place of the old Astra TwinTop. All models feel comfortable and secure on the road and if you plump for one of the eco-diesels, you'll manage impressive mpg, too. Used values are weak, but dealers tend to offer big discounts on both new and pre-owned cars, so try to avoid paying list price on all but the flagship VXR hot-hatchback versions. All-in, the Astra is a practical, durable and dependable, well-rounded family car.

That jump in to the back seat was flawless

I had this car as a company lease car and I'm very impressed by it. (Turbo 140 hp) the car is a beauty and never let's you down. I still miss it.

Contradicting yourself a bit with the interior. In this video you say its cluttered with too many buttons but the GTC review you say the interior is stylish! They are both exact same interiors!!!

I genuinely feel vauxhall build quality is great. I've had 2 corsas (2001 and 2009) and my father has bad new astras like this one and they have all been a dream to maintain. More than a good enough reason to buy a vauxhall

I think it's the best looking car in the class, followed by the new Leon. Good to have Matt back.

I drove the 1.6 Elite of this Astra and was surprised how upmarket and refined it was. Very quiet, seats superb, nicely cocooned feel to the cab and seamless auto gearbox. I didn't even care about its only 115ps.

not to mention the fact tht if you get this car, like I have, you will see that the centre consol i not as cluttered as it seems, and in fact goes to show that vauxhall think more about comfort, and  full range of accessories. Vauxhall is right up there with bmw, audi's and that, the only difference is there cheaper, which is no problem, why spend loads of money on a car when you can get one just as reliable and if not more reliable, better quality, BETTER PERFORMANCE and cheaper all round. Vauxhall's never seem to get the credit they deserve :/

I believe that's the first candle I've seen lit in a moving car

That complaint about rear seat lighting is plain daft; you're going to have that issue on any car that doesn't have a sunroof or isn't a bloody Nissan Cube

This is a fun review! This channel has one of the best car reviews I've seen. Lots of amateur reviewers can learn from this!

They are offering almost 10% discount for this model in my country before the new model arrives next year.
It is attractive car and large. I do like the facelift on the front and back but i am suprise they didn't redesign the cluttered center console by adding larger touch screen and reducing buttons in the progress.
Strange not having power window in the back for mid and high range motel.

Had the diesel estate version sri. Punchy. Quite refined on the motorway, or at speed on nice roads, but horrible around town at low speeds on rough roads. Unrefined suspension couldn't deal with it - 18 inch wheels didn't help. Lifeless steering doesn't give confidence in the bends. Very reliable car though. Apart from wear and tear never let me down.

I don't like that the front indicators are right next to the fog lamps. they're too low in my view. why didn't opel integrate them in the main head lamps, like any other car? otherwise I like it alot!

No, instead you need 32 menus, right? It looks quite clean to me, and as I said, it looks far better at night with loads of little lights rather than a big LCD.

I have the Astra J 2.0 SRi diesel ecoflex 163bhp. Will be swapping for an Astra K 1.6 biturbo elite nav in 2018. Can't wait!!
