Bengaluru News | Auto Driver Slaps Woman For Cancelling Ride In Bengaluru

A woman in Bengaluru was harassed and allegedly slapped by an Ola auto driver after she cancelled her ride booked through the ride-hailing app. A video of the altercation, shared on social media, shows the auto driver and the woman arguing, during which he tries to snatch her phone. The driver has been arrested, police said.

Many times Uber, Ola and other online taxi service drivers cancel the ride after telling the drop location.
So nothing wrong if a rider cancels the ride. That driver should be charged with criminal proceedings and severe punishment should be given to him.

But the problem is they'll.let him go with a rs. 500 fine and a nice set of words saying don't repeat this behaviour while someone is recording.

It is completely LEGAL to cancel a ride 100 times if you want and if the app permits. These multimillion dollar companies have given that much convenience to their customers.

For the drivers, It's a part of their job. It's an expense. What they earn every month is after deducting these running expenses. If he is not with Ola, he will anyways have to ride from malls to bus stations to schools across the city to find customers. So who pays for that gas? Of course he himself has to pay. Ola has just made his life easier because now he moves his auto only when he has a confirmed booking. Moreover, he can also reject a booking if he doesn't want to go (which is very common and is a real problem for customers). If he has got so much convenience from Ola, does the Customer also not have the convenience to cancel a ride?

It's like a salesman getting angry at a client because he travelled to him but the sale didn't happen or a shopkeeper getting angry because the Customer tried many outfits but didn't buy anything.

The lady deciding not to ride after booking is 100% justifiable. She needn't even give a reason for why she cancelled it. It's the driver's fault (and also crime if it's proved that he physically hit the lady).

Are we heading towards becoming a country where after rape and robbery, a woman has to also worry about cancelling a Taxi???
