I like Dr.K as a character and think he is really going out of his way to see if Colin has the Pale Virus or not, even trying to get him transfured into a fluffy goo creature before deciding to give the same injection Dr.K himself has taken.

Dr K is an interestingly written character for sure. Researching things, especially dna is hard and need experimentation. And making working serum even harder, especially in a stress situation like this.
