As someone who’s lived in Idaho my whole life, I feel like I’ve been shut out by the cost of living. My parents were forced to leave because they couldn’t afford how expensive Idaho got when they got older. Don’t get me wrong I love this state, I wouldn’t feel pressured to leave if I wasn’t struggling to make ends meet. It used to be affordable before all the people moved in. My parents remembered when the first boom of people came in the 80’s and then it kept growing and booming once again. People used to be very friendly, but now everyone’s bitter and upset because of all the people. I could see these things scaring other people off. Idaho can’t keep up with the amount of people and it shows. I miss the days where things were all fields.

I lived in Boise for about 10 years. Loved it. Sadly, the wages weren't nearly what were needed for the cost of living. Once in a while, my ex-wife asks if I would agree to move back with our kids. I'll pull up the Ada County Sheriff's recruitment page to see what their wages are and see that I would take a nearly $20 per hour pay cut. That's if I convinced them to start me off at their highest pay rate.

I moved to Idaho 37 years ago and never looked back. Full disclosure: my family is on its sixth generation here, but I lived much of my early life in another state. I feel incredibly blessed to live in waterfront splendor just outside a small mountain-lake resort town that is beautiful, safe, clean, tranquil, friendly, surrounded by spectacular scenery, and a year-around recreational paradise. Life here could not be more rewarding or less stressful.

As a 4th generation Idahoan, people leaving the state makes my heart happy.

I’m an educator, 27 years. I took a 35% pay cut to get out of California. Yes, the pay adjustment has been quite an adjustment. However, the fact that I do not have to go along with the BS being taught to children in California, is priceless!! I didn’t realize there are more liberals than I thought. The social media influence has hit them. The pride flag flying and zero carbon emissions banner on the Boise City Hall building was disheartening. This all means we need to get more active politically. Don’t make me do it. 😂. Overall, I love the slow down. Give me farms over concrete any day! My soul has been able to relax since moving here. If you know, you know.

Very well done and truthful video. I did 4 scouting trips, not just to the Boise area but to various places I thought I might like. I landed in Meridian on the border of Boise. Love it here and I'm a retired Senior. Be forwarned, the streets in most neighborhoods do not get plowed in the winter!

to your point about friends, I think a lot of people move to Idaho because of the isolation

Retired NYPD new to ADA County and it’s one huge construction zone traffic on roads made for tractors on farms that have turned 1 farm address into 250 Toll Brothers addresses!

The biggest reason people are leaving Idaho is to make a second trip back to where they moved from and get the rest of their stuff.

In the winter time, wake up and be in the sun at least 5 to 10 minutes. Sometimes, it helps to wake up in the middle of the night and watch a movie. Make sure you shovel the snow and salt the stairs when you wake up. Try to get a home with a wood stove. It'll warm you better.

Born and raised in idaho and left for nevada to work in the mines at 18, decided after 5 years to return home still working in nevada though. Sadly idaho ranks low for the skilled trades, as a HE mechanic for the mines in Nevada I make more than I ever could working anywhere in Idaho it has now got me thinking after almost 6 years in idaho if i should have stayed in nevada.

If you move here and don’t like Idaho and move away, you’re not the type of person Idaho needs. Glad to see you go!

I've watched several of you Idaho videos and the one thing I keep noticing, Idaho seems very brown. Like, not much grass and trees. Is that how it really is?

That's me. Make 60k a year in Boise and planning on leaving next year because I'm two weeks from poverty thanks to sky high rent and housing.

I wish I didn't miss my chance to live in Treasure Valley back in 2020. I even checked out Nampa in March before the shutdown.

I had family from both parents that lived in Idaho. As a kid, I hated going there because "there's nothing to do" there. As an adult, I would love to move there and buy some land. It's such a beautiful state and much less people. Maybe some day
