The Real Reasons the Titanic Sank

The tragic story of the RMS Titanic has become legend, from being dubbed ‘the unsinkable ship’ to the tragic demise of the vessel sduring its very first voyage all the way back in 1912. The 1997 Academy Award winning rendition of the events that took place directed by James Cameron is one of the closest we have to understanding what happened that fateful day. To mark the 25th Anniversary of Titanic movie release, in this episode of Xplained we take a look at the timeline of the Titanic and how the movie was filmed.

Where to start....1. You got the death toll wrong 1496 deaths and 712 survivors. 2. Titanic carried 4 more lifeboats than the legally required amount, a cluttered deck was not the main concern. While the ship COULD hold up to 64 boats there was no plan to actually install that many. 3. Coal fires were also common at the time and no evidence suggested that Titanic's had anything to do with the sinking, it was also extinguished the day before 4. Binnoculars were NOT for spotting objects ahead, they were for confirming a sighted object b/c usinging them alone would have narrowed the lookouts field of view. 5. Yes many ice warnings were received, but it was common to maintain course and speed under those conditions in 1912...ironically conditions on the night were TOO perfect (moonless, calm and possible mirage) and hid the iceberg until it was too close. 6. Boat drills were for one or two teams of select crewman, not for everyone on board. Seriously there is well over a century's worth of research out there, getting this many basic things wrong is beyond comprehension.

Former marine CH. Engineer here: Is not hard to believe that there were not drills or enough lifeboats as SOLAS was implemented after the Titanic disaster. Shipowner only implement things after they are enforced by regulations.

When. Ballards videos were shown you can clearly see the word Olympic where Titanic should have been the White Star line welded the ships names but after the workers returned the two ships that were docked side by side the two ships were in eachothers berths and metal name plates were placed over the welded names.

More lifeboats were needed but would have needed more davits to launch them as they barely had enough time to launch the boats they had.

What was needed is more more rules, regulations and procedures to safely operate ships like stopping or going slow at night during ice, traveling in groups of ships and many other things. If I owned a shipping company back then I would have made 2 ship’s travel together and use that for marketing as a safety measure or maybe have a small ship traveling a few miles ahead. We can blame whatever but at the end of the day if the ship didn’t hit an iceberg it wouldn’t have sank and back then many ships sank because they weren’t being safe.

It wasn't the Titanic that sank but the Olympic. The name plates were switched for insurance purposes.

Acctually 706 People Survived Titanic and 1517 died and the Hawk wasnt sailing along side Olympic it was coming up to olympic and the lifeboats yes you may be correct about the Number of them But not all of them Wanted it to be like that with only 20 lifeboats Mr andrews for example was overruled because he wanted 64 lifeboats and the fire started 10 days prioer to departure and the bulkheads went to E Deck not A Deck which you showed The captain Was under pressure Because Of Ismay So shut up about him And dont Disrespect the captain he went down with the ship didnt he Thats a good captain And he said to his Officers When he retired to his room for the night (Meaning officer Lightoller) That The wether was so clear they could see for miles But they couldnt something called a mirage affect was going on that night So that makes it look like they can see for miles But they cant But a few minutes later Lighthollers shift was done and 1St Officer William Murdoch came to the Bridge And lightholler said everything to murdoch that lightholler had discussed with the captain moments Before the iceberg hit 6 Comparments and yes it was 6 Comparments And it was only A few Dots and lines Across the Hull that went into those compartments camron took The name dawson for the film Jack wasnt on titanic niether is Rose yes molly brown was isador and ida strause was on titanic aswell sadly passing away so dont be rude about titanic People died and this is a clickbait video for Money Respect the ded you Idiot
