In this video, Dr. Berg talks about lectins. These proteins are the plant's protective defense mechanism against insects, bugs, microbes, and pests. If a person is sensitive, they could experience all sorts of digestive stress: gas, bloating, inflammatory bowel issues, pain, GI disorders, etc. You can get a blood test to see if you are sensitive to lectins.

the lectins are mostly in the skins/peels… you can have tomato, eggplant, cucumber for example just peel them! makes all the difference literally

My own experience on lectins: before even knowing about keto diet and about Dr. Berg, I tried to exclude the lectin-vegetables: I had a heart problem. And a weight problem. After excluding lectins: 1. I started feeling better. 2. I started loosing weight. 3. My cardiologist was shocked about my heart and health condition only after one year of my no-lectins diet. This got me to get more information on the influence of the food I eat on my health. I started to search: this is how I found my way to keto-diet, and to Dr. Berg. I really appreciate whatever Dr. Berg publish: doesn’t matter short or longer video, it is always well prepared and precise. Thank you very much, dear doctor Berg!

It's the skin on almonds which is high. not so much blanched almonds. Tomatoes, bell peppers, potatoes, eggplant are pretty high too. (nightshades)

Yeah, I am incredibly Lectin sensitive, and IgE to Milk/Dairy and Egg Whites. But Dr. Berg did NOT mention the lectins are mostly in the Skin and Seeds (According to Dr. Gundry), so supposedly peeling and deseeding them will help. But I pickled my own cukes this way, and they still bothered me, so I am done trying... I feel so much better without them!

Since I reduced / eliminated lectins from my diet, I feel SO much better and it's showing up in my blood tests, too. Thank you, Dr. Berg.

Thanks for sharing on this topic! This topic can be confusing, because lectins are anti-nutrients, meaning that they may decrease your ability to absorb nutrients from other foods. However, these foods with lectins also have a lot of nutrients that help prevent disease! The best approach is to soak and boil foods like beans to remove the lectins.

I think you need to take another look at Lectins. I see several items you have listed as either high or low that is the opposite of what everybody else in the Lectin free community says. You also failed to mention that there are cooking methods that will make some high Lectin foods a safer to eat.
