Okay, so lectins are proteins that help plants protect themselves. But, what are they, exactly?
Well, for the scientists out there, a lectin is a “carbohydrate-binding protein of non-immune origin that agglutinates cells.” However, for the rest of us – who read those words and see gibberish:
A lectin is a type of protein (susceptible to various diseases, bacteria, and viruses) that forces carbs (sugars, starches, and fibers) to clump together and even attach to certain cells in your body when you eat them.

And those lectins can cause painful or uncomfortable physical responses, including:
● Digestive issues
● Leaky Gut
● Bloating
● Nausea
● Gas
● Diarrhea

This absolutely works! I’ve been trying to figure out what’s been causing all my issues: bloating that I can’t suck in, migraines, aches and irritability and of course, weight gain. I thought it was just hormones, but after bloodwork, my hormones are tip top! It’s my gut and everything I’ve been eating has been full of lectins! I’m not exaggerating, but I cut out lectins for 3 days so far and I lost 4 pounds already! That’s a big deal for me because diet and exercise never really helped. I needed to dive deeper and Dr Gundry is where I stopped. I even experimented yesterday to just be sure I wasn’t imagining I was feeling this good because I went lectin-free. I ate a few bites of the pasta I made my family and my gut rejected it within a few minutes. I was sweating and in pain for at least an hour. I was like yep! Dr Gundry definitely has it right! I can’t go back now! My gut won’t allow it and im cool with that. 💩💩💩

On one hand, I am super happy about finally figuring out my digestive issue I've been having over the past several years, but on the other hand, I hate the idea of giving up a few of those foods, especially oats. Oh well. I will learn and improve and make the necessary changes. Thank you very much for solving my problem.

I made the mistake of having lentils today and my inflammation in my back came back with a vengeance. I cut out bread and grains ages ago and it was like a miracle cure. No more inflammation. I used to get cortisone shots for the pain. It would of solved me years of pain if I'd of cut out bread and grains years ago. I do seem to have a lot of annoying food intolerance though. I'm pretty sure avocados give me pain too. I'm not too sure about eggs. Sometimes I seem okay with them and at other times I don't. I have some skin allergies to barks and some grasses. I have high markers to soy and bakers yeast in allergy tests. I've been trying to lose weight around my middle for years as well. My stomach has a mind of it's own. I think maybe I eat too much fruit.

People in the Mediterranean eat lectins and live long lives. The studies done was with lectins extract which is not the same as lectins in whole foods

What percentage of people are adversely impacted by lectins? Those that aren’t will then have more healthy food choices above processed foods or sugary foods, which are even worse. A lectin tolerant person would then have an abundance of extra real food to chose from, which is better for them. Knowing how many suffer badly enough with lectins would help quantify our choices. Thank you Dr. Gundry.

Dr. Gundry, in one of your videos, you said "Pressure cooking knocks the lectins out of food"; my question is, after the clook can we use the liquids after the cooking is done, or does the liquid contain the "knocked out lectins"?

3% of the population have issues with lectins. So 97% of people doing this are wasting their time.
Same story with gluten: a small percentage of people are gluten intolerant yet now millions of people are avoiding it.

Can I peel and de seeds aubergine and courgette
To avoid most of the lectins.? It would appear most of the foods I love are loaded with lectins. I not use organic peeled tomatoes if cooking and now also use peeled red peppers from a jar
