I noticed if you remove the batteries and throw the headset out of the window it seems to resolve the drift

I've had both my controllers drift from time to time. I discovered removing the batteries, and putting a little dab of the Isopropyl alchohol (or CRC 5103 quick dry electric cleaner) into the thumbstick, rolling it around, letting it dry for an hour, and then putting the batteries back in has worked 100% of the time to fix my drift issues.

This doesn't seem like a permanent solution. I think you have to try to open the controller, as using alcohol will not make your dust disappear, it will just relocate it. But I guess it is less intrusive solution to try first before grabbing a knife and a screwdriver.

I just tested and can confirm that Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner (for your vehicle's MAF sensor) works very well, even when applying to your thumb stick while the controller is still fully assembled. So I'm sure removing some layers and you could potentially get even better results. No more stick drift and working smooth like butter.

If you don’t have isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol as it’s called. Look through a medkit if you have one, the alcohol wipes work the same

FINALLY I HAVE NO CONTROLLER DRIFT BUT THE FIRST THING DOES WORK BY ROLLING IN IN CIRCLES AND PUSHING IT IN AND OUT THAT WORKED FOR ME

See I would return this oculus but I had to get it imported and cost a lot of money and also took a lot of patiently waiting so I'd much prefer a way that doesn't involve me having to return it lol, otherwise cheers for the other tips

I found that first remove batteries and then put the batteries back in and then remove them again then put it I'm backwards, spin it around. Pull it back out then wait 46 seconds then when a better headset comes out from another company, buy that one.
