Pro barber here, growing sideburns has nothing to do with growing a beard.. Use minoxidil and a derma roller for beard growth

Your beard doesn't grow from your sideburns. You have hair follicles all over. Now of course if you're cutting part of your beard then that defeats the purpose, but you can still cut your side burns and grow a beard. I've cut my side burns since 2008. No issues

This is so real, my parents are African so I never got fades or anything, just low cuts and as a teen I saw my sideburns grow low and then they reached my chin and expanded and slowly my mustache came in too noe I got a long full beard and ehile mustache is almost connecting and then I got a full face beard. My older brother was more rebellious abd always got fades and cut very often and at my same age now he has a mustache and some beard on the chin and that's it

as a black man for me its using a beard detangling cream. my nappy hair for many years had deep cowlicks and so many twists and knot that it took me having to exfoliate let the dead skin and pimples come to the surface while not letting scars build my right side had a lot of excess chemicals and dirt that created lots of thick inflammatory bumps that took months to dry out and clear up. my beard Is growing better I can still feel some hairs bricking but to me that's the hair weaving its way from around. My beard hair is not straight but like waves it will eventually laydown its a process but once its finished it will be perfect. also as a black male I had the same ingrown hair problem in my pubic area and chest area once I started using witch hazel in the inflamed areas all the puss and swelling clears and your hair grows in straight wont be twisted up inside your body before appearing on the surface.

My problems not with the side burns i got hella hair on my side burns and some on my chin and mustache but thats it, cant be walking around with 3 inch side burns and nothing else

When I began to grow mine I told my barber don’t touch the sides at all ! You gotta go through the rough phase to get the results you want

Use rosemary in place of minoxidil. Rosemary is a natural herb that is as effective as the 2% minoxidil but all natural no chemicals. (Peppermint too)

Best advice is to stop capping and just say you took minoxidil, it’s fine bro. People can’t not grow beards bc they get lineups. Take a deep breath, tell the truth, relax it’s okay 👍🏾

Hes correct, you can't keep cutting off the side burns because once the other hairs on your face sprout, the beard will start to come together to look fuller
