My channel... 8 videos + 16 years + 0 dashboard logins = 149 subscribers. I don’t remember my 1st 149 subscribers cuz I didn’t pay any attention. HUGE missed opportunity back then! Now so much regret, and my movies are old and I’m too old to do what I did back then. I had mistakenly only utilized YouTube to promote my website. I now have some ideas here on YouTube with my old movies and my raw content but I worry it will be a long road leading nowhere??? Trying to again get some more subscribers the “right way”. My first subscribers were cross-over from another platform (Twitch) years ago when I made my first YouTube video. It wasn't until a few months ago that I posted another video on YouTube and I have since deleted that initial video because it was supposed to be part of a series that I never continued.
While I wish I had been able to create on both platforms simultaneously for more consistent growth, starting out on YouTube more seriously this year has been a growing experience. The skill set that you need for editing videos versus live streaming is definitely a learning curve. I've been greatly enjoying your videos, they are helping out a lot as I restart my YouTube journey. Congratulations on 1M+ Subscribers - your content deserves it and then some ☺

As I wrote when you asked it on your community post: my channel was hidden but I asked some close friends (the ones who knew I was creating a channel) to watch the trailer of my channel in order to check if everything was ok and if the sound was ok. I also asked them not to subscribe until it was released, but they subscribed anyway.
I agree with you: the most important ones are the ones who subscribe to your channel because they want to and they keep watching the content because they like the content and our personalities.

I promiss, the first ever person who press that red button was a random person that actually enjoyed my first video. That viewer's comment is also the first one on the channel too. I can see why you can make an alt to press that button or you can ask someone to do it if there's a reason or not. But I got mine natually I guess. In the end, that viewer made a small but noticable change on the channel and I ain't complainin'.. That's about it. Thanks for readin'! 💙

So originally, I started out on YouTube as a live streamer. I'm Not completely clear on HOW I managed it with my first channel (now deleted) or my second channel, but I managed to grab my first handful of subscribers by being live and random lovely people stumbling in. Okay. I'm Going to keep watching now lol. I just like to write down my thoughts. If I have more, I'll edit this so I'm not spammy :)

One of the biggest mistakes I see people do is not start their channel cos they think everything is so expensive. You don't need to spend thousands to get started. You can literally start making videos with your smart phone and a decent mic and achieve some surprisingly good results. The biggest mistakes you can do is not start a channel!
