After having been diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year I had a thyroidectomy. I’m on Synthroid meds and experienced some hair shedding when I started taking it. My wonderful surgeon said it would be temporary and I can tell it’s been improving. I’m cancer free now so I’m okay if I’m losing a little hair. 😅

I was experiencing mild symptoms and didn't think anything of it. I was shedding more than usual, but I tend to shed a lot anyway due to my very thick hair, I felt a bit more tired, and I had gained some weight. Oh, and the ends of my eyebrows have never grown back! Bummer. My hypothyroidism was found to be mild, but still out of range, so I will forever be on thyroid medicine. I'm glad it was found during my wellness visit. Thank you Dr. Dray for the in depth information. I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!

I don’t have a thyroid & they have a lot of trouble with regulating my levels so I know about some of the problems you can have. Thanks for another great & informative video! ❤️

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis 15+ years ago. Definitely experienced hair loss during that time. My hair was already fine and thin to begin with so it was pretty concerning. After starting levothyroxine and my levels came back to normal range, the hair loss did slow down, thank goodness. I also have systemic lupus so that doesn't help the hair situation either. The struggle is real. 😩 Thanks for speaking about this and hopefully anyone experiencing any of these symptoms will get their thyroid checked. Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a lovely evening. 💚

I was waiting for this, thank you!

I am 47 soon to be 48 and perimenopausal and it has been a nightmare, mainly because of my hair drying up to brittle and wire looking strands that led to hair breakage.

Working with an endocrinologist at their snail mail slow speed.

Girls/women! Start sooner than later.

I had hypothyroidism, low iron and low vitamin D. I had an iron infusion and took 5000lu 2-3 times per week and my thyroid was back to normal. This was about 1.5 years ago. My hair part was widening and shedding. My hair at about 10 inches down my hair is now brittle and dry.

In recent month I started planning to build a house. I thought the stress of planning and work was making my hair thin and shed. Then I realised my leg hair was growing at half the pace it normally does. I have a mole with 3 hair in it. The mole hair all shed and lay dormant and my eyebrows thinning too. It was obvious before watching this video. But this video really made it sink in, it time to go back and get my thyroid checked. I'm age 34 so this can happen to anyone.

Be careful - I was prescribed T-3 and T-4 - and the result - weight gain and hair fall. It is difficult to fix thyroid problems - be careful you could make it worse.

Love your content, Dr. Dray! I’m 23 and have noticed some facial fat loss with age, especially in the cheeks. Could you please make a video on natural and cosmetic ways (like fillers) to restore facial volume and maintain a youthful look, especially for those with a more bony profile? Thank youu 😊

Hi Dr. Dray, very informative for sure and I myself have hypothyroidism very well controlled with my Synthroid. I get checked regularly. it’s very important to keep it in check. There was a time when mine wasn’t and it was out of whack. Partly my fault for not being on Synthroid which I can only take the brand name for some reason I can’t do the generic because my levels are not normal then.
Have a great day 😎💐

Would love more videos on hashimotos, thank you for making this one! I was diagnosed 2 years ago and have had terrible cystic acne, boils, --- I'm taking metformin and have been steadily losing weight. From time to time I experience extreme fatigue, my eyes become heavy and I could sleep for hours and hours. Hate it here lol

You were spot on with correlating everything and not all physicians did. Additionally my cork screw curls turned wavy . 😢. Thanks for all your work Dr. D

Hair loss was one of the the most distressing part of graves’ and hashimotos for me. The other was acne. However I was able to add in HRT after I healed the autoimmune and my hair did grow back and is in different phases of regrowth now. The acne is mostly under control with multi acid serums. I had the help of a naturopathic doctor during the healing process. My regular doctor didn’t help much past the diagnosis phase in that she just didn’t have the same set of information as the naturopath. I encourage anyone suffering to see a naturopathic doctor to get to the root cause of the autoimmune. I wish everyone all the best in their healing process! 💗

Lost my hair aged 5. They only bothered to check my thyroid aged 10 and put me on thyroxine. Now aged 50, obviously my hair never returned. I also have eczema, asthma, hayfever, epilepsy, sarcoidosis, and obviously alopecia universalis. Add menopause, good times. 😭
