This Gland Affects Your ENTIRE Body

Thyroid disease is a general term for a medical condition that keeps your thyroid from making the right amount of hormones. This can have wide-reaching impacts on every organ in your body, despite the fact that it comes from one small gland in your neck. The symptoms are often non-specific, meaning they commonly go overlooked, which is why doctors so often miss it. #shorts

My wife has Hashimoto's and only got diagnosed because she went to a doctor who also has it. Other doctors blamed her fatigue on being a mom.

I was dismissed by one doctor because I had "normal" lab work. Ended up having thyroid cancer at 38 years old. If you feel like something is wrong, don't stop until someone listens.

I have a thyroid disease and was recently admitted to an inpatient psyc hospital. One of the first things we talked about was getting a lab to check my thyroid level because it hadn’t been checked in a while. I’m just saying this to let people know it can also have an impact on your mental health!! Thankyou for giving the thyroid the attention it deserves with this vid!!

If my aunt hadn't spoken about her issues, I would've never thought to ask for my doctor to check me for thyroid issues. Ever so grateful to her (RIP) for speaking about her health issues, she helped so much.

I had hyperthyroidism and was very sick to the point when I finally saw a specialist, she couldn’t believe I hadn’t had a heart attack or was in the hospital. That was 4 years ago and I’ve been on medication and I’m doing well, thank goodness!!

Diagnosed hypothyroid 13 years ago, finally got the diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis a few years ago. The brain fog is the worst for me.

I have thyroiditis with multiple nodules. For the past 8 years I’ve felt crazy anxious, depressed, brain fog, fatigue, low mood and digestive issues. My thyroid levels always came back “normal”. A week ago I had a partial thyroidectomy to remove a nodule the size of an egg. And let me tell you, my health took a 180 turn! I’m a new person! Happy, relaxed, energetic, mental clarity. All my symptoms that I had before are all gone and I feel so good! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I recently had my entire goitre removed and we discovered that I had an underlying thyroid cancer cell growing in my goitre. I am now on levothyroxine for life and it’s still quite an adjustment. Wished thyroid diseases were more talked about. I hope that you’ll bring more of this into your YouTube channel, Dr Mike! Thank you for sharing.

Recently heard that even depression may sometimes be related to thyroid issues!

It would certainly help if our doctors actually listened to us. My daughter lost two pregnancies and was treated for anxiety and polar depression for an entire year before they listened to her and checked. She has Graves whoch was so severe, she was rushed to have the radiation treatment. Then, I started having symptoms that sent me to the ER many times over the last two years for severe chronic constipation. Though I wondered about thyroid, it was never checked. Instead, they wanted to remove my sluggish gall bladder. It took a very high FSH level at my Gynecologist to scare me into calling every doctor and requesting the labs for TSH. By the time I got someone to test, my ovaries had already retired at 43 and my TSH was close to 50. This has affected me and my mental health drastically but no one wanted to test for a thyroid problem. Ive another daughter who's drastically gained weight, has chronic fatigue and depression and though I think it could be thyroid, they still haven't checked it but have her on several medications to treat her symptoms.

As someone who’s thyroid has flipped between hypo and hyper raising awareness for it is super important. I’ve had an under active thyroid diagnosis for going on 4 years and still struggle with it despite being on regular medication and by monthly blood tests. For me it was genetic but it’s so important people are aware of such a small thing that makes such a huge difference to existing as a human

It's true, it took me multiple doctors and it took YEARS before I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism - the doctors kept telling me standard things like sleep and eat healthy which was frustrating because I was already doing all that and I still felt miserable, honestly if it were not for my parents for persisting and finding me the right specialist, I could have easily gone undiagnosed.

I only got diagnosed with hyperthyroidism once I was sent to the er for undiagnosed diabetes. It was all because I was assigned a diabetes doctor that doubles as a thyroid doctor. I’m surprised no one noticed my symptoms even though my birth mother and and my sister had this issue.
