Life in the NORTHERNMOST Town on Earth (Extreme) | Longyearbyen, Svalbard

Показать описание
This is Longyearbyen, on the archipelago of Svalbard, the most northern inhabited settlement in the World. Located high up in the Arctic, just below the North Pole, Svalbard is a part of Norway, and one of the most extreme and inhospitable places on Earth.
With long, cold & extremely dark winters, no soil for any crops to grow and a population of just a few thousand, Longyearbyen is one of the most remote and difficult places to live in the World.
We are traveling to the World's northernmost town to find out about life here, how people live, and what makes them move to a place almost on the North Pole, and on the literal edge of the Earth.

Welcome to Svalbard (aka Spitsbergen) 🙌

Welcome to the Northernmost inhabited region on Earth! This has been a dream of ours forever, so it truly feels surreal to be here! ❤
Cant wait to share what we have been up to here 😉

I've learnt most of what I know of Svalbard through Cecelia Blomdahl's videos that I'm excited about your visit as though I'm the one to have invited you there. Lol Happy to see you've made the trip. :)

I was not expecting to learn anything new about Svalbard, having followed Cecilia for more than a year, but I DID learn new things from you guys! Yay! 😁

Svalbard, the place I would love to visit one day! I follow Cecilia's channel and I'm happy to see you went into the church. Thanks for this video, Julia and Matt.

Thanks for going into the church! I had never seen that in any other Svalbard videos. I look forward to the rest of this series.

Greetings from Norway. A friend of mine went to Longyearbyen to work there for 6 months. He ended up staying there 8 years.

I thought this video was going to be a collab with Cecilia Blomdahl😊 I recognize all the sites from her vlogs but it’s nice to see Longyearbyen through someone else’s eyes❤

Wow! It’s so crazy to me that such a remote place can have such amenities when there’s places that are much more confident with so little variety. It looks like such a beautiful, interesting place! Thank you for sharing Svalbard with us!

One thing, of many, which makes your videos so great is the factual tidbits that you share! Along with excellent filming and editing, your sparkling smiles and love for each other, and utmost respect for other cultures and environment!

I'm really looking forward to this mini-series. It's great to see Svalbard from a different angle and through different eyes than Cecilia's, who I've been following for a few years also - like nearly everyone else in the comments 🥰
Personally, I can't get enough Svalbard content, it's such a fascinating place on earth and a dream destination for me. Hopefully one day I'll get there myself. Until then - thank you for your videos! 💖

Nice to see more of the town. To bad you missed Grim.
Might not be best walking that direction once the snow flies.
