As a child I had no playmates but I did have a German Shepard. She actually saved me from serious harm twice.

I was a military working dog handler in the Army. I had a Malinois that was the most awesome dog I ever worked with. Very intelligent, athletic, loyal, protective, and has a very high drive to please. I retired from the military. I now have two. Nika and Annie. When my wife goes anywhere, one of them is with her. If it's really hot or cold, they stay home. But, our other dog goes with her. His name is Smith & Wesson. If anyone were to break into my house or try and harm my wife, hell would be unleashed.

I did German Shepherd rescue for years, but every now and then the rescue would take in a Belgian malinois and I would always volunteer to take it in. They are by far the most awesome breed.❤

I grew up with my dad breeding/training the GSD and have loved them my whole life. I got one when my daughter was 2 and he lived to a little over 17 & was an amazing guardian/protector. I now have a gorgeous Belgian Malinois who is a little over 2. She’s super intelligent/extremely protective but she’s also a lap dog. She’s fast too. We’ve clocked her going at 30mph out in the hay field. If you’ve never owned a Mal or GSD, a Mal is not good for your first choice! They are extremely high energy, require constant training, be it physically or mentally, they require a lot of room to move so an apartment is not really recommended. They are good around small kids but need to be watched as they are herding dogs and can nip at the child’s ankles/legs in an effort to keep them moving like they were bred to do. Also, they have extreme drive so know what their cues are because when they are focused and you don’t know what their cues are and what they are capable of doing, that’s when you can get bit, and it hurts. They are always “on”. But they are amazing dogs when trained properly.

Personally I've had a German Shepherd in younger days, they are loving, highly intelligent and very loyalty, the Belgian Marino's both are so beautiful 😍

I had a German shepherd and this dog had insane perfection instincts but the Belgian Malyn wall thinks a little less and has more agility where the German Shepherd thinks a bit more, but has less agility. Both are equally deadly dogs, but are incredible creatures.

Both dogs are brillant animals! Extremely smart, they will keep every owner on their toes and the greatest companion. The thing I love most about them are the fact that they are excellent for families with kids and they'll make mincemeat of an intruder!
