4 Ways to Tell if Someone is REALLY Speaking in Tongues

To wrap up the series on speaking in tongues and spiritual gifts I have decided to answer one last question...How can you tell if someone is REALLY speaking in tongues? It's a question I received at the end of my livestream last week that I answered, but thought it deserved a more in-depth answer than I gave and deserved its own video because I truly believe that many people were probably wondering the same thing. I also believe that this simple and to the point checklist will help others to not be deceived by the false version of speaking in tongues that has invaded the church today!

I appreciate this lesson greatly. I, at times, have issues with some ppl in my congregation speaking in tongues in a qay that I believe does not line up with the Word of God. Paul also state in the scripture that no more than 2 or 3 ppl should speak at a time and sometimes I notice that half of the church breaks out in speaking at once, no interpreter. How could that be of the Holy Spirit if it contradicts scripture?

If I’m praying to God for myself why do I need to interpret? The only time I need to interpret is if my prayer was for the church or I’m prophesying in tongues.
And other manifestations of tongues could actually be other languages as God wills when he wants to edify the church. But praying in tongues is between you and God. Stop trying to decipher other people’s personal prayer. How can we just gloss over 1 Cor 14:2. ”For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.“

The Bible clearly says you’re speaking to God!!!
I was also an Acts 2 advocate for nearly all my life until God started convicting me. My church doesn’t speak in tongues but as I studied the word of God, God opened my heart to his words. Please do not block others from receiving a gift of the Holy Spirit that is clearly! clearly!! explicitly! stated in the Bible.

I always wondered when one speaks out in tongues why does the emphasis for interpretation have to be on the speaker? Why are they responsible for the interpretation and not someone else in the audience who may have it but be refusing to give it

I Corinthians 13:1; 14:2 say about speaking in tongues (angels language and speaking to God alone).

Yes, i do believe scriptures teach tongues is for edifying the church, not the gibberish speak charismatic churches believe in. I came out of that false deception

I’ve been searching up and down YouTube for this answer, why do people think it is necessary to make a 24 hour long video just to get the answer to a simple question. Can someone just tell me the answer? How do you spot someone faking tongues or not? That’s all I want to know nothing else.

Here is my concern. In my church a woman yells loudly and claims she speaks in tongues and an elderly pastor translates or pretends to.

See if it's one thing I have learned as a Christian is, test the spirits. Or look at the human them selves. The spiritual fruit they yield and how closely they walk with God..

This woman is a very loud (look at me look at me woman) she had no shame at all. To yell in a crowd of a million people. (She man's well though)

Also I have heard her repeat sounds before repetitively like ( shandya ka, shand a la la ka. Shandaya ka la.) And she screams it so loud in a church of 175 people, so when i looked to see the kind of people she is? I did so not to judge, but to make sure I am.not tricked as Jesus said many fakes would come.

Plus the language she is pretending to speak, is not exactly angelic or godly sounding.

I don't tell anyone this, or ever dare say anything to her, but I find many Christians believe anything and everything in a church, even if it's fake.

I have spotted a fake prophet in our church, the man is very arrogant and rude at times, yet claims go be. A holy prophet and sadly even pastors of our church have believed him, and he's not prophesying when he's waving their hands over them and pretending to the future, when he's wrong 99% of the time unless he states the obvious and manipulates them.

It can be very discouraging.

Paul also speaks of the private "prayer language" and the "tongues of angels" In other word, something you use when you are praying in private to God. There is no loss of control when you speak in tongues. You left out a lot of what Paul says in 1st Corinthians. And we don't know that all the tongues heard on the Day of Pentecost were meant for, and understood, by the foreigners. It was the day the Holy Spirit was given, and ALL, I repeat "ALL" 126 persons present received with tongues of fire. God will give the Holy Spirit to anyone who asks. It is a free gift that is meant for anyone who is Saved. it is more common to receive the "personal prayer language" type of tongue that God understands when you are praying, and that you yourself don't understand. We call the "Gift of Tongues" that you are talking about "Ministerial Tongues, " one meant for another to understand in his own language. You are preaching the lie.

There are 3 different ways to speaking in tongues. One is personal which nobody can understand but God, then the one that can be interpreted by one which is for the church, and then the tongues that are for unbelievers. Yes everyone can. I'm sorry my man, your understanding of the Bible is incorrect. Idk if you haven't ever spoken in tongues. Either way you're not understanding the Bible. Most who haven't spoken in tongues feel some type of way. So they teach incorrectly. See Satan wants to understand what you're saying. So he doesn't want anyone to speak in it. You are deceiving ppl. Not intentionally but you are.
