I appreciate not only the wisdom in itself but also applying it to modern life, I often find myself wishing I was alive in the age of ancient warriors but that’s out of my control, I’m here now.

When we declutter the mind often, you approach every move with clarity without emotions

I have been interested in the teachings of me Mushasi for 40 years I first read the book of five rings in the 1980s this is very well done and thought out especially the part about misuse of no mind he was also well prepared for every eventuality things were well thought through once the groundwork is in place… The Earth book in the book of five ringsthen you could achieve the state of no mind knowing that you’ve done every thing you can to position yourself appropriately that was possible without that you’re just ringing it and it’s an excuse for laziness

To me mushin when applied feels like seeing a void in my mind. And only when I need thoughts I start seeing only those I need. So it is very helpful and the explanation of it was great.

I am a very anxious soul. Living in the past or brooding over the future. Dwells regularly. That's why Zen is my medicine. I am a serious Zen practitioner. Mushin, if one even reaches it, is the ultimate freedom. I struggle by not struggling. Just trying to be.

Sending gratitude from a Daoist monastery near Seattle (USA)!
This state of freedom of the mind is also explored in the heart and body. So much fun!

The idea of transcending the mind is found in Buddhism before the advent of Zen, or even its Chinese precursor Chan Buddhism. In China, the idea of "no-mind" as the term for this state was taken from Daoism. The state is applied to warrior arts in India, Tibet, China, etc. One of the most important sources for understanding the application of Mushin to swordsmanship is the work of the Zen master Takuan Soho, who died less than five months before Musashi.

Cool video, love this topic, I read Miyamoto, Soho, & Munenori to look into this from a martial arts perspective. My original interest was mushin from the pure Buddhist perspective & as far as my research uncovered, to go further on this topic, one should research the purely Buddhist texts & commentaries on mushin, since the martial arts perspective explains it differently, which seemed more like a flow state, intuition, or even just muscle memory, although perhaps more accessible, but I feel inaccurate, at least from the way it's presented in Buddhism. You could say a flow state is a good sign but keep going on the journey is good advice I think. Mushin is basically enlightenment, the tao, mastering non-attachment (you can do, think, & feel anything just don't be attached), non-dual realization, egolessness, emptiness, Buddha-nature, the view, luminosity, etc. Writings on these things take it deeper or at least, explain it deeper. But, the best way is to be in silence, meditate a lot (which can be walking meditation too), & be mindful in everyday life, since these things take years to approach & cannot ultimately be grasped mentally in any way, that's the exact thing that's stopping it from being uncovered, the discriminating mind.

Excellent thanks. Meditative attention in action is not widely known. One of my favorite books: "Stillness is the Way", Barry Long. Place attention into the body. What is the sensation there? The energetic sensation of the body is subtler than the thinking mind, so with attention there, which can be inclusive of everything, the mind is increasingly held,

@statueofwisdom I was wondering:

1. Is it your own voice? It’s ASMR-level!
2. Do you create your own artwork or browsed them online? Their very cool!
3. What are your information sources?

Compliments for very inspiring videos! Wanted to use chatgpt to create artwork that explains your video about 7 anti-laziness principles to children but sadly chatgpt was…Wabi-Sabi😢
