Hands down - Revolver was the greatest album The Beatles ever recorded. It broke barriers. It changed the genre. It opened the door to everything (including Sgt Pepper) that came after. It was a game-changer. Sgt Pepper is actually my 3rd favorite Beatles album - Revolver (#1) and The Beatles (#2 - just based on the variety of musical styles and quantity of tracks!)...THEN Sgt Pepper. I can't wait to throw this set at my ears!

It makes me very happy that the actual albums are respectfully placed on one CD without any bonus tracks tacked at the end! I want to push play and have the CD end when the album ends and not have to push stop myself or go through the trouble of deleting bonus tracks before playing the streamed version on Apple Music.

Back again!

The Beatles have just dropped the 2022 remix of Taxman onto YouTube (and presumably other streaming platforms). I've had a listen - though I need to listen again through the headphones - and the stereo mix is much improved on the old electronic separation that just dumped sounds seemingly randomly in one channel or another. It now sounds like I think it would if you were sitting in front of the band as they played.

Some of the changes are quite subtle, with (wider) percussion noticeably separated from the drum track, giving the sound a greater feeling of depth than I've noticed before.

Of course, I could be attributing more to it than is there, but that's my initial take.

To be honest, I am okay with the EP this time with the Revolver. The thing that irritated me with the Let It Be EP is that it did not at least include a new mix of You Know My Name (Look Up the Number) or a new mix of the single version of Get Back along with the fact that the new mix of Don't Let Me Down was altered majorly with that intro.

Because of the price increase and no bluray I’ve gone with the vinyl deluxe and the 2CD set. I assume the book is the same in both deluxe sets? I love the presentation of those. The 2CD set has the remix Paperback Writer & Rain too. It’s a shame as the hi res sound quality on those blurays are amazing!

Off topic - but did anyone see the superb film broadcast yesterday in UK on Channel 4 'The Beatles and India' available on All 4 - incredible footage and insight. Would recommend to those that are interested.

Don't know why but I feel more excited about this reissue than any of the others. The Beatles were running on all cylinders as a team going in the same direction. Should be a very interesting listen indeed. Can't wait!

I was surprised that the trailer didn't feature any of the bonus music. Entirely standard album tracks

Taxman seems a bit clearer. The bass and drums were recorded together on 1 track of the 4 track tape, so its nice to hear a bit of separation and space in this mix.

The vinyl price in canada is horrendous, almost double the deluxe CD set - almost $300!!
