How To Do A Russian Join

I think the best way to join two strands of the same yarn is to do a Russian Join. The biggest bonus of this technique for me is that I have less ends to weave in and that's always going to be something I'm a fan of!

I wouldn't use this join for color work unless I didn't care where the color change happened, but it would be good if you're doing a scrap project where it doesn't matter to you.

Thanks for watching!!!

I must have the wrong thickness of yarn and needle (yes, I have one of those thick plastic yarn needles...ish) because I can't get this to work.  The yarn strands are just shreading.  (It's like basic Red Heart yarn I'm using).  Would you suggest a thinner needle? trying with a thicker yarn or both?  I wanna get the hang of this because it looks like an awesome tip that would come in super handy.
