The 10 Stages of Every Destiny 2 Player

As players progress through Destiny 2, they often fit into one (or more) of the 10 stages described in this video. Also please keep in mind that there's nothing wrong with being in any of these stages; I consider each to be a "normal" part of the average Destiny player's experience. Of course each individual has their own path, but this video outlines some of the most typical and interesting stages for entertainment purposes.

This video is actually the result of a viewer suggestion and is ultimately inspired by Hamaji's videos that have a similar style. If you have an idea for a video you want me to make, feel free to comment it down below or in the Discord channel we've created for that purpose! I know this video is a bit different from my typical uploads, but I hope you guys enjoy it nonetheless.

I was a d1y1 player, until I quit playing around late 2019. I trailed off and soon I found myself consumed by the responsibility of life. I started playing when I was 12 years old and so my teenage years were spent growing up with this game. I still get destiny videos recommended to me and I still have the urge to watch a few once in a while. It’s nostalgic and melancholic but it helps remind me of the absolute best times of my life and best memories I ever made playing this game. There really isn’t anything that can capture me like destiny did. Maybe one day life will let go and destiny will consume me once more. Then again, Guardians make their own fate.

I miss Destiny one, I got it at launch not realizing it wasn’t a single player game and being blown away by the lore and gameplay. Hands down the best multiplayer experience I’ve had gaming

"And of course they also find out that punching the glowing orange shanks might not be the best idea." That was way too accurate

Favorite part about being “stage 10” is introducing new players to the game. Vicariously reliving those early stages through them again and again. I love helping new players get into something I’ve loved sense 2014.

The "advanced techniques" part is hilarious, fantastic work, keep at it.

Been playing Destiny since D1 release. Id say Im in between stages 9 & 10. I find genuine enjoyment in helping new players. Idk why. There’s something fulfilling in watching a New light get excited about the game you’ve been playing for years. A game you love to hate and hate to love but come back every single day cause its YOUR game

I've introduced and taught people to Destiny, and seeing them discover which class they truly are never gets old. It happened for me at the end of Year 2 of Destiny 1. Despite it being the last character I created, I will forever and always be a Hunter main. It's like the pieces of the puzzle all suddenly dropped into place, so it's really cool seeing it happen with other people.

I love the stage 9 “sherpa” stage haha. You forgot the stage where they go so deep into lore that they bought the grimoire book and watched all of my name is byf’s lore videos haha

I'll never reach the stage of going flawless in Trials, day oneing a raid, or one manning a dungeon, but I'm able to help others and even introduce some to the wonderful game that is destiny...and that is where I am both happy and wish to stay

I joined the Destiny community a couple weeks ago as Warlock because I made a deal/bet with friends. I've come to like the game even though understanding all the roles and mods is overwhelming. The first 4 stages hit close as I constantly ask my experienced friends as to what a god roll is. I love bottom tree solar and I still use the Nightwatch rifle I got from the beginning from time to time, and luckily I kept it since I've been told explosive payload is pretty good. Gambits felt like everything was suddenly stronger but I learnt to cope, though I stay far from crucible XD. I guess 128X is the soft cap so wish me luck

I feel this perfectly encapsulates the journey me and two of my friends went through after 3 years of Destiny 2.
In Season of the Chosen we managed to get the Conqueror title and in Season of the Splicer (current season) we got the gilded version.
I realized that Destiny was not just a fleeting experience, but a stage of my life so now I just care about making good and lasting memories~!

stage 9 gave me chills.. the stage where you’ve done everything so you find joy in taking newer players through hard content for the first time and hearing them get hyped for their first exotic or first raid clear

Destiny 1, the first truly online game I ever played. It changed who I was as a person and I gave me some of the best memories of my childhood, I cant think of a game thats had a bigger impact on my life. Thank you

Im happy to say, after playing since D1 year 2, I've achieved rank 10.
This game is just my hobby, when it's bad I still have fun, when it's good, I have a childlike giddiness that I love experiencing.
I always try to improve, I'm always excited for new releases, and I'm always trying to help new players so that they don't get overwhelmed and quit early on because I know how much this game has to offer.
I am grateful that I haven't developed a crazy ego because, truly, I am not the best, I've done some clutch things here and there, never soloed a dungeon (there hasn't been loot I've wanted to make it worthwhile), I have attempted day 1 raids a couple of times, and so on, but I just have fun now, I'm not trying to prove myself to anyone, I'm just looking to have a good, satisfying, kickass time.

I was not ready for how accurate the frustration and return stages are. Frighteningly accurate

I must say, you can apply this to almost any activity in life and it still makes sense, I just showed this to my friend who is stuck swinging between stage 7 and 8 regarding fitness and he was able to figure out his problem. This is amazing!
