Such a great selection. I love Patrick Leigh Fermour and William Dalrymple. Madam Bovary is on my summer reading list too. Great video 😊

This is a great list. I'm particularly curious to hear more about the Eco book - it sounds fascinating. I've loved his fiction.

I really liked The Leopard and I think you will enjoy it too. It gives you a lot to think about.
If you are reading Madame Bovary, which I also loved, please check out the trial Flaubert had to face for it. It's fascinating and adds an additional layer to the story. I don't know about the English edition, but in the German one, it was added as an epilogue to the book.

Eco always a win, and I remember Bovary being something special…

Some great book choices there Aaron. Best wishes with what you choose to read. I hope you get some great stories. I'm currently up to page 805 with the Count of Monte Cristo. Still got some way to go. Happy reading.

I love the title _Inventing the Enemy_ but I’m not sure how universal the passage you read can be said to be(?). I’ve been wanting to tackle _Tender_ too. Good reading!

Hi Aaron. That's quite a list that you have for the summer! I've read Madame Bovary at least twice, but it's been a long time. I don't think you will be disappointed by it. It's a great novel. I also love Tender Is the Night, but The Great Gatsby is still my favorite of all of Fitzgerald's works. It may have more to do with when I first read it and the incredible impact it had on me at that time. It's also a novel that I used to love to teach. I am wondering if you're read Colm Toibin's The Magician? It's his novel about Thomas Mann. (He wrote a similar type of novel years ago, The Master, about the life of Henry James.) It's an odd genre--I'm not even sure what you'd call it--fictionalized accounts of the lives of novelists. But I did find both of Toibin's novels on novelists to be really interesting. I hope you're doing well. I'm still hearing that persistent cold in your videos. Take care.
