Arbor Gold is just like CERVEZA CRYSTAL

If only Lancel had plied Bobby B with Arbor Gold, he would've lured the boar into a false sense of security with some honeyed words

Love hearing you say Petyr like you’re Lysa getting railed.

I had a thought as I was listening to this that might add to the theory. If Arbor Gold has an "opposite" in ASOIF, it would be Dornish Red. As I recall, Dornish Red was the drink of choice of the Hound, who famously hated lies. Connection? Might be, could be. At any rate it would be interesting to do a similar breakdown of Dornish Red and it's connection to truth, if there is one, in the books.

I honestly chuckled when I remembered "Oh yeah, that's what Hizdar's hair is supposed to look like in the books.."

I read the first book when it came out in paperback back in 1997, got Clash in hardcover as a 35th birthday gift from my brother, was walking through an airport coming home from Hawaii and saw Storm sitting there on display. I really enjoy seeing new readers discover these books, new channels come along like Quinn's that give good analyses.

Surely Wyman knows you should pair meat pies with a Dornish Red. Theory confirmed.

Benjin was the boar, bloodraven was the wine.

Every time I hear how long it’s been since ADWD breaks me a little bit inside

Never would have realized this without the fan theorists. Love this idea

This is an awesome observation that I didn’t pick up on as a reader. It reminds me a lot of the use of oranges to signal greed and/or treachery in the Godfather trilogy, and like those oranges I bet being able to pick up on the imagery/symbolism will make re-reads more enjoyable

As soon as your image of Ulf White came up, I went, "Holy shit." You cracked the code for sure, and that one seals it for me. GRRM frequently uses his peripheral stories to reinforce the patterns and themes of the main series.

I will indeed be looking out for the phrase in the next book.

Quinn you’ve been single-handedly keeping my love of ASOIAF burning and I thank you for that

I’m sure it’s been covered before, but it’s interesting that House Redwyne are not Goldwyne and their sigil is a red grape.

You can make a white or gold wine by removing the skins. So it seems that arbor gold is just made from red grapes similar to dornish reds but the wine itself is a lie to be presented as something unique.

Notice that in the books it’s referred to as singular Arbor Gold. But for dornish wine it’s plural “dornish reds”

Janos Slynt really knows his wines.

He also has friends at court.

Powerful friends!

Now I assume Arbor gold was served at the dinner Tyrion had with the Goldcloaks commander before sending his ass to the Wall.

My closest friend who basically prosthelytized ASoIaF until I devoured the first three books in his condo pool while cat sitting just passed away. It breaks my heart that he never found out how the story ends. It breaks my heart that these books so many have a deep and abiding love for will never be finished. It kills me that George has been lying about finishing the books for years. I can no longer watch videos like this because what was once a source of great joy has turned to ash in my mouth.

I think any reference to wine from the Arbor is a signal. When Daenerys went to the Western Market, for example, the wine merchant insisted she try the "dry red from the Arbor" (Daenerys VI)

I dunno why, but I love the subscribe parrot at the end of your videos. It's got big grade school end of the month newsletter energy and I am here for it.
