"Rise" is a song written by Andy Armer and Randy Badazz Alpert, and first recorded by trumpeter Herb Alpert. The instrumental track was included on Alpert's solo album "Rise" and released as a single in 1979. It reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in October of that year and remained in the top position for two weeks. Herb Alpert thus became the first (and only) artist to reach the top of the Hot 100 with a vocal performance ("This Guy's in Love with You", 1968) as well as an instrumental performance. "Rise" also spent one week atop the adult contemporary chart. "Rise" was successful on the other charts, peaking at number four on the R&B chart and number seventeen on the dance chart. The recording also received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. Songwriters Andy Armer and Randy Badazz Alpert were both nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition. The single, "Rise" has sold more then a million copies.

Not just a great musician, but a great philanthropist. Over the years Alpert's foundation has given away 200 million dollars to help communities and families in need and to fund music education.❤

This has to be one of the best instrumentals of all time. I love Herb Alpert's music. Music this good isn't made anymore.

In 1983 I was the cameraman for my middle school's closed circuit TV news program, Station Ogle. This was our theme song (I doubt Herb was paid a royalty). It was the first time I remember hearing Herb Alpert. I remembered his name but didn't think much about the music. I was 12 and rock 'n' roll was hot. After college I started exploring jazz and reacquainted myself with Herb. It brought back memories and still does. You never know when an early exposure will blossom into a new appreciation. Stay open to new things, you never know where it might lead

Herb was so handsome at this time and most of all so talented. He is now 88 years old and still a handsome man and beautiful wife from, Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66. She sings beautifully.

My 7 year old grandson was asked by his teacher when she was questioning the class. She went around the room and said what kind of music do you like to listen to and my grandson said “Herb Albert and the Tijuana brass.” My daughter said that the teacher just thought that was the funniest thing that a seven-year-old would say that I guess she had a really good laugh about it, but he loves to listen to his herb Albert music. I think his response just caught her off guard. 😊❤👍

Last month, my grandfather passed away. His request for his funeral: "play my two favorite songs, Heaven by Bebe and CeCe Winans and Rise by Herb Alpert." And that's exactly what we gave him! Rest in Heaven,

This is one of those songs that the music actually sounds like it’s telling a story from start to end.
