It's all fun and games until you've got 15 rounds of 22 in your chest

If it’s not good for self defense then a knife isn’t good for self defense or pepper spray isn’t good for self defense.

Did we suddenly forget that ammunition technology has dramatically caught up in recent years and that puchasing a frangible hollow point .22lr is highly recommended for hunting and SD.

Is it good for self-defense no, but is it better than a pointed stick yes, I don't care who you are you would not like to be hit with 22LR, if you are very recoil sensitive look into getting 22 magnum, 5.7, whatever you use, get yourself premium ammo, and if you can eventually get yourself a steel framed pistol with a muzzle brake in 380 or 9 mm, a steel framed gun will help control recoil and be easier to shoot.

The five weapons/calibers that everyone needs and why in order of purchase:

1) 9mm handgun. Easily concealed and capable of self defense or home defense.

2)AR-15 in 5.56/.223. Affordable, modular, parts accessible almost anyway guns are sold. Great ballistics. Perfect for home defense, truck gun, or defending liberty when necessary.

3)bolt action .308. Capable of taking large game, Accurate, cheapish ammo, and plays a role in defense of property if you have the land.

4) 12 gauge shotgun. Also great for hunting, excels in interior home defense. Capable of ending violent encounters rather quickly. The ability to switch between different loads is a huge plus.

5).22lr rifle or handgun. CHEAP ammo that can be stored in mass quantities, very quiet suppressed, can take small game with ease.

I'm italian. The worst serial killer of our history killed 14 persons with a 22LR pistol. He was the Monster of Florence.

I think the mark 4 22/45 is the best 22LR self defense pistol for females it’s light, easy to handle, has no recoil and is pretty deadly with hollow points any female that needs a gun that will be loud enough and harmful enough to scare away an attacker and draw attention, I recommend if you carry it to bring at least 3 full magazines, most gun stores sell the Ruger with a case and 2 mags and getting an extra mag is definitely worth it, the Tactical Lite model allows the use of a lighter and an a red dot. Starting there and moving up as you get comfortable is definitely worth it

It’s great for self defense, with that silencer on it, just use a hollow tip or hydro shock round

I think it’s great
.22 are used by a lot of underworld grim reapers

It’s a fantastic bedside home defense weapon in the right hands and reliable ammo. As for EDC it would be my last option

I wouldn't trust my cocaine transports with it.

My biggest issue with .22 is the rimfire case. Stacking issues, jams, failure to feed, magazine capacity and availability, fragility of firing systems, dry-fire concerns, primer reliability... the list goes on.
