I like to cut the flooring and lift up a strip the length and width of the floorplate so that the wall sits on (contacting) the concrete foundation. Flooring like vinyl and others can fatigue and “squeeze down” over time with the slight movement of the house.
Same with the sheetrock in the ceiling.

I love this, thank you! I’m about to add a small bathroom right next to my daughters bedroom and this is really going to help because I have no idea what I’m doing. Of course I’m going to let the city know and all that and get it inspected, but I don’t wanna pay people, when I can just figure it out. Thanks again.

My only suggestion is to include a link in the description below, to the next video on “how to install drywall” … and whatever other steps are necessary to build a wall. I was really looking forward to seeing the full steps from start to finish.. I’m new to this DIY lol so I’m trying to see if doing this project is something I might be able to accomplish.

This will be helpful since me and a buddy of mine will be building some extra rooms to this small house we are getting from his uncle. Mofo only has one bedroom, decently sized living room, small kitchen, one bathroom, and has no doors except the front door! We gonna have our cut out for us.

Congratulations on the project! My first concern is the use of SCREWS vs NAILS! I've always understood that nails are far superior in terms of shear strength and that screws are actually more brittle in applications like this.

Thank you for the video.... I didn't know about the stud plates until now. Where did you find it? I tried to find it in Home Depot in Canada and could not find it. Is there a specific name for it?
