Apple is going to eventually end the iPhone and replace it with a revolutionary new product... at least, that's the plan. Rumors are swirling that the iPhone 15 may mark the end of an era as Apple introduces its long-rumored mixed reality Apple Reality Headset in 2023. Let's discuss why this is going to be such a big deal and the big changes Apple has planned for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Ultra.

the headset absolutely will not be getting rid of the iPhone. That's the most ridiculous thing to even think lol

This video is a great example that people will watch anything on YouTube that shines (high budget gear + set, good editing etc.) no matter the content itself.
AR goggles and phones have very little competition with each other. AR/VR is the next big thing of this decade in consumer electronics, but it won't affect the phone market in any significant way.

One of the many problems with Google Glass was that lots of people need prescription glasses, and a significant fraction of them need to be pretty picky about the fit and weight of glasses. (I get nasty headaches if my glasses fit is off by just a tiny bit, and most glasses frames are just too heavy (and also cause nasty headaches and earaches and sore bridge of my nose).

Apple has pretty clearly not really taken seriously the possibility that people might want to use their phones outside in places where hats, scarves, and gloves are mandatory, so I have very little faith that they will adequately consider the needs of the 64-71% of adults [in the US] who already wear (prescription) glasses.

Probably a couple decades from a full phone replacement, but the glasses will be a lot like the watch for a good 10-15 years. Excellent companion device.

I honestly don't think that this will happen. This channel has gotten several predictions proved wrong (such as "why the iPhone 14 won't come out"), and I think that this will be another one. And also, what do you think would happen to the mobile gaming industry?

Prediction: Apple's VR/AR headset will not replace the iPhone, but will sell into niche markets with particular use cases like gaming and surgery.

I like the idea of projecting multiple screens anywhere, even looking down on to the surface of a table top (could make a good Cintiq replacement). I guess my only worry would be exposing my eyes for longer durations at closer proximity to a light emitting lens

the way you pull out those phones is so, unnervingly smooth

I love that companies are making phones that flip closed again, everything has come full circle

It put a smile on my face to see that EverythingApplePro is still making renders of possible new phones and outsourcing them

My favourite thing about Apple phones is the relentless overhype.

After a year most owners are bored of their kit and 'need' something new.

I don’t see physical phones going anywhere but I do think that the glasses could happen and if they could tie in the iPhone too the glasses in a unique and useful, convenient way then I will for sure buy them. But I will not pay some crazy price for them. If it comes available like the iPhone where I can go to Verizon and do a payment plan for 20-40 bucks a month I see this being a huge hit. I also hope they have options to get prescription lenses with insurance and also possibly a discount with insurance for people with eye prescription’s would be a must need

I must admit seeing how Google Glasses was literally in beta at one point but ultimately got abandoned, I am a bit surprised to hear that Apple is this serious about developing something similar.

I think in a decade or two this may be close to happening but my iphone 11 ain't going anywhere anytime soon.

I personally think it is a ridiculous idea. I know I will not be wearing a headset!

I'm just starting to learn iOS development to make iPhone apps, I'm scared because my new skills might soon be irrelevant, but at same time I might be able to carry that knowledge over for Vision Pro if it takes off and replaces the iPhone.

No. I don’t think people will ever stop using the phones 100%. I think one part will choose to keep using the phones but the other part will choose the headset. I’m photo sensitive, so the headset for me is a bad idea besides, having something that close to the eyes is probably not the best idea to anyone .But it’s too early to say anything.

Unless they really pack a punch with the use and functionality for their VR, I feel like it will have tough competition with the established companies. Similar to how they made expensive Apple TVs, even after Amazon fire sticks took a good stance in the market. I’m Interested to see how it goes.

I think a headset would need to be an extension to the iPhone, rather than replace it. Especially if they package it into something more sleek - it'll need to source the computation power from somewhere/something else on the person.
