MicroLED was supposed to be the next big thing in display tech, and even replace OLED...so where the heck is it?

I think we should skip Micro LED and just jump right to LED Type C

For a split second i thought this was an AI video dubbing over a video of Linus with James's voice.

The music in the background is much quieter than before. I really enjoy it that way it makes it easier to understand speech now :)

MicroLED sounded like a game-changer, but the manufacturing hurdles are no joke. Maybe one day we'll see it widely adopted.

Ah, quantum dots. I remember back when I was a student nearly a decade ago doing my biophysics master’s degree, the lab I was at was doing experiments with them. It was an oncology institute and the idea was using them for cancer imaging for the purposes of being able to see the cancerous tissue when operating and a bunch of different applications. I wonder if that ever went anywhere...

0:50 Seems better than other technologies where you can't fix bad subpixels at all. Maybe the issue is that there are far more defects with microLED.

seems (to me) like microled was gonna be a step-stone for qdel, but if i'm not wrong, at this point qdel seems to be as advanced as microled is (or was just a couple of years ago)
would love an update on the state of qdel tho

I just want them to solve the burn-in problems on OLEDs.

I also never understood the prevalence of floating/transparent screens/phones in sci-fi.
Who the hell would want that?

4:09 - I gave a subtle nod at the screen as a way of acknowledging that awful pun that was professionally delivered.

Love your work James.

Lol i was in the avicena fab last year, so amazed to just randomly see it popping up again.

a see-thru screen has its uses. it could be used like a HUD while driving. i always wanted a nfsu2 gps arrow floating in front of me

brightness and efficiency are the two big factors, why existing helmet huds for motorcycles suck. while cars can just project onto the windshields; motorccle HUDs are no different to augmented reality glasses, in direct sunlight, with tiny batteries, having to run for hours on a single charge

I've been telling people for years that "I'm waiting for MicroLED before I buy a new TV". Though, most people don't know MiniLED TVs are LCDs so I'm fine, they won't remember.

that MSI monitor arm is just a Brateck Heavy Duty Dual Gaming 17"-35" Monitors Arm with an MSI logo on it. can recommend though, been using it for almost a year.

Thanks for the update. I've been wondering for years what happened to MicroLED.

"Or as I call it Micro-led" That's nice James, the self-appointed arbiter of display technology pronunciation 😂

To be frank, MicroLED seemingly is falling by the wayside versus QDEL (as QDEL has pretty much all the benefits of MicroLED outside of maybe the form factor configuration? But even then QDEL is a very new thing so maybe it can be molded in whatever shape wanted)
