What dyslexia really is

Hi, I'm Cliff Weitzman.

I am dyslexic.

‍Reading a sentence takes me the same amount of energy and brain power as most people take when solving a four digit long division math equation in their head.

I taught myself how to code and built a software that would read books to me. It's called Speechify! I spent 4 years in college perfecting this system. Instead of slaving over a textbook while chained to my desk - I’d take 15 quick photos and then listen while eating breakfast or going to class.

Today, tens of millions of people have been able to function in school and society because of Speechify.

Remember, that above all else, your mission is to be who you needed most when you were growing up. At least, it’s mine.

The worst is when your in a class with people without dyslexia and everyone finished the 2 page reading while you are still on the first half on the page feeling like you read 3 pages already it takes forever hence the reason I HATE science

As a dyslexic myself This is very accurate sometimes I have to read a sentence or paragraph more then once before I understand what I’m reading and because of this people have always labeled me as stupid

That's true I'm dyslexia and I work on yellow paper because apparently it helps and the good thing about dyslexia you get extra time on a test

I took a 5 hour test. Got really sick and a massive HA from it. This makes so much sense.

Im Dyslexic and i found out it in my late 20's.. i cannot write almost any word which has more than 6 latters because of that i couldn't complete my education I'm high school dropout and it kills me everyday 😓 our school teacher were so dumb i remember, even they didn't know there is such thing as dyslexia and i was the stupidest kid in the class according to them and school time was so torturing for me even i still have nightmares that i'm in school again....and thanks to autocorrect in my phone now i can write some things

For me the words didn't make since it was like I was reading a foreign language

Yes the words are a bit jumbled but outtakes much effort the one time just felt hopeless was in a geography test everyone was on question like 34 and I was on question 8 my self esteem completely dropped however I still haven't been properly diagnosed I am in the process but during that test I was clueless to what was wrong with me I felt so stupid

I usually not face reading but while i am reading aloud or speaking i feel like its taking too much energy.

I’m really confused because I am dyslexic I go to tutoring but I love reading and I am a fast reader for Example I read a 465 page book in two days. Is it just me or are there other people like that?

This is very too dyslexia is very much like this I have dyslexia so I am telling you by my own experienc😢 it's just heard it gives me a really hard time in school everybody no one understands you are everybody just like you are stupid it is sad 😭

Im dyslexic but my 1 grade teacher let me stay in her grade for not reading and not talking

Even i am trying hard to improve reading hoping that if i practice i will improve and be able to read like my friends, but now I wonder if this will work or not, i feel it would be better if i focus on learning my subjects rather then spending so much time on reading. Wt would u say?
