Still waiting on parts for the Supra, so figured I would take some time to address some negative comments on Instagram by performing a little demo on how to properly use a torque stick in my Universe!

I am so happy to see you put a pad under your knees when hand-torquing those studs. Believe me, in 20-30 years, your knees will thank you! I'm closing in on 50 and WISH I would have done that in my younger years.

I love when mechanics use Torque sticks to properly tighten the lug nuts on my car. The only problem is that most mechanics don't do what you do Faye. They keep the air gun on for too long and it ends up tightening them too much. I like how you do it. You just click your gun till you hear the lug nuts bottom out. You don't keep going over and over again. Great video.

Hello. Im just turn 44 year old male. That was always fascinated with working on cars. But never did it as a career. You have inspired me to chase my dreams and go back to what I love. Thank you 👍

As someone who has worked in tires for over a decade, you used a torque stick exactly like I was trained. I know there are a lot of guys who don't like them, but if used like you did here, it adds an additional layer of protection for the customer. It's a hell of a lot easier than feathering them on by throttling the trigger.

From a Mechanical Engineer, A+. Including the extra touch of hand indexing the socket onto the lugnut instead of just cranking it.

I wish I could like this another 100 times! I have had more people question my methods on a tire rotation than any other process. I have actually written up some employees for not properly torquing a wheel. Those that say things like"Never had one fall off", are the one's that eventually find the door, cause if you can't learn the right way to torque a wheel, what else are you effing up?

As a mechanic, I use torque sticks and hand torque lug nuts. Best way to know your wheels are tight. Just remember over time and use they lose the ability to properly torque. Over tightening lug nuts can warp brake rotors too.

Thanks for the info! Great to see someone doing things and actually thinking about "why" they do it in a certain way!

And that is one of the definition differences between a mechanic and a technician, a mechanic will caveman the job but a technician knows overtorqing will stretch out and weaken the studs and that a torque stick only gets you there and the torque wrench is a must, live the video.

Great video, Faye. I've never used torque sticks, because I wasn't sure of their accuracy. Your video actually proves that they're pretty accurate and also demonstrates the fact that torque sticks don't eliminate the need to do a final check with a good torque wrench. Keep up the great work.

Interesting thank you. I really only work on vintage cars but I have seen these always wondered what they were for.

I have been watching your vids for a while and glad that you are an advocate of torquing hardware.
As a young man I remember how I over tightened an alternator mounting hole and cracked the alternating housing. Ouch! Lessons learned the hard way.
Thanks

Ur too good Faye. Lol I admit I always just torque most Toyota/Honda/aluminum wheels to 80 because it's a round number & easier on my brain 😂. But yes, please use torque wrench people. Can't stand when I get back from mechanic or tire shop & theyve zipped a 76ft lb lug down to like 150 🤦‍♂️
