Propagating POTHOS With FERTILIZER Experiment ( AMAZING RESULTS )

I did an experiment with pothos to compare normal water to water with fertilizer in it to see if it makes a difference when propagating pothos. It made a huge difference. The pothos had almost 4x the amount of growth than the regular method produced. Propagating Pothos with Maxsea is crazy.

With having fish as well, I have seen pothos grow like crazy with its roots only in the fish tank. Fish water is basically a dilute fertilizer, so maybe it makes sense. Either way, I love these side by side experiments!

I work at a nursery and tend to think of myself as pretty knowledgeable about both house and landscaping plants, but I'm constantly learning something new from your videos. Absolutely great channel! Thanks!

I think it would be beneficial to delay adding nutrients by a week. Start in clean water, then add nutrients after 7-10 days. That would decrease the competition with algae.

A good way to prevent algae growth in the water is to cover the jar with aluminum foil after you start to see new root growth before your water starts to turn algae green.

The fertilizer one is amazing growth 🤩

I would definitely let the roots occur naturally in plain water, than by the 5-7th day add the fertilizer giving the roots a chance of growing naturally the fertilizer will add a boost, + delaying the process more will hopefully stunt the growth of the algae.

I watched a few of your videos and said that you looked very familiar and that was confirmed by my son, Nathan and his friend, Josh from church! Awesome that you do plant videos as I love plants and propagating them!! Great videos :)

"About that much" is my favourite unit of measurement. 😅 I use it all the time. 😎

I would love to see a bigger test using separate elements, 1 with calcium, 1 with nitrogen, 1 with potassium, 1 phosphorus (phosphorus is the 1 i think would make more roots)

Trying this right away! I'm propagating a bunch of pothos from my workplace, they don't have leaves (its from a long vine with oly a few leaves at the end) so everythung that can help them is so appreciated!

planterina also theorised that other plants root faster if they are rooted in the same container as pothos cuttings.

Thank you a lot! I tried it first hand when I saw this videos about 3 weeks ago. It’s amazing. The water with fertilizer helped my cuttings spread like crazy while the ones just in water took a little longer. Fantastic work and I’m glad I found your channel 👍🏼

Great job 💚 this plant is so grateful and lovely to see throughout the year. I’ll repot mine after I get some cuttings. Thank you

Wow that was definitely extreme! I'm gonna have to get a hold of some of that. I wonder how it would be with added nutrients as it did seem to effect the original leaves a lot negatively, although it could be because it purposefully shut off the flow of nutrients to the original leaves to concentrate the growth to the roots and new growth. Definitely worth adding to my existing potted plants too.

My mint julep cuttings were an in with maybe 3 leaves each and in a week's time, they each had 3 inch roots with HAIRS like they were getting ready for prom. Had to plant obviously.

I found if you aerate the water a little each day that pothos roots will thrive in plain water. They grow more of those sub roots and start new leaf growth. It's something to try. Love the channel.

The Swedish Plantguys channel suggested 2 nodes for each piece - the bottom for root, and the top for the leaf. Have you ever tried this method side by side with your method? I'm wondering if they extra node is really helpful or not.

Personally, the clones I have went directly into dirt, and it was premium potting mix with fertilizer added.and I have had complete success so far, with all clones surviving and producing roots.and thinking on it, only thing that I can say is the main reason this worked is those roots had like this video, nutrients to help produce roots, moisture and also the air I mentioned from the airated soil.i really think the right combination of those three things is key to cloneing plants, even if it's useing water as a medium.
