I have realised that the key is to go with the flow, meaning that trying to plan your reactions, expressions ect are not ways to make someone like you. You may improve your image, but if someone likes you or not does not depend on any of these traits.. The way I see it, the solution is to open up, feel free to express yourself.
That was my mistake. I was always trying to appear in a certain way in front of my crush, only because I was shy and nervous. He never even considered seeing me in another way. On the other hand, when I was hanging out with other people I was open and did not care that much about what to do or what they might think of me. This is how lot of them ended up being attracted to me.
