Quick & Easy way to Clean a Spray Gun when Spraying Lacquer

It’s always best to have two spray guns as part of your system...one for spraying paint and the second gun for spraying clear finishes. 90% of the time that I’m spraying finish, I’m spraying lacquer since lacquer is just a very easy finish to work with.  It dries quickly and gives a great finish. This is the process I use for cleaning my spray gun after using it with lacquer.

Thanks Jon. No matter how long I spend cleaning paint from my gun I never seem to be able to get it fully clean. I think I'll follow your advice and save up for a second gun just for lacquer.

The spray gun is no joke. Lays down some bad ass finishes. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!

That's exactly how I used to clean my spray guns Jon, great video!
However, I've moved on to 3m's PPS system now and couldn't be happier. Cleanup is an absolute breeze literally taking only a couple of minutes, and much less cleaning solvent is used. I concur with using two guns.

I use the same system. bit the bullet and got the 3M PPS 2.0 system for it. a little expensive to get into but I find myself reaching for the fuji for every project now regardless of how big or small it is. makes clean up a breeze and using the gun much more enjoyable.

Great tip, Jon~! Before investing in a turbine ($$), I'm thinking of getting a less expensive gun to use with my compressor to become familiar with spray finishing. I'm looking forward to getting away from using only rattle cans & brushes, as I've done thus far.

How do you store the gun in between spraying and cleaning? Does the lacquer not dry?

Hi Mr Peters. Do you mix your lacquer that you apply with thinner? Or do you just clean with it?

I can see you installing a pull-out shelf for the Fuji in the near future.

Refinishing! Whatever pays the bills. 🤣 Fuji products are insane. I love my Q4! You have the new cup design it looks like. Nice walk through on your cleaning steps!
