Make these quick easy refried beans in 10 minutes. This easy recipe shows you how to make refried beans from canned beans. You can make this from any canned beans you have in your pantry.

Ingredients:
1 tsp oil
1/2 chopped onion
1-2 chopped jalapeño peppers
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp salt if needed
2 cans of pinto, red, kidney or chili beans of your choice.

Add oil to a hot pan and quickly sauté the onions and jalapeños. Add oregano and cumin, then add two cans of beans with their liquid. Mash well with a potato masher and cook for about 5-10 minutes constantly stirring until they are at your desired consistency. They thicken more on cooling, so don't cook them too dry.

Just tried this recipe, turned out great! I added about a teaspoon of garlic, it added a nice hint of another flavor to the beans.

I wouldn’t recommend doing refried beans this way. He did well sautéing the aromatics first, but don’t add the beans with the liquid together. Strain the beans, keeping the can liquid, mash the beans, fry them, and incrementally add liquid when the beans become too dry. They’re called refried beans for a reason, you can’t fry something when there’s a bunch of liquid in the pan.

Boiling beans from scratch are much tastier than beans in a can. Trust me, I lived off of canned beans for long time when I lived away. When I tried my grandmother’s refried beans (made 100% from scratch) it was far more better in quality and immediately more flavorful than the ones I made from a can of beans, and the thing is I can good really good!

Plus I found out it’s actually cheaper to make them from scratch fyi. U can simply freeze whatever you can’t eat so it won’t go bad.

Yup. We use the cheapo canned pinto beans and use lard instead of oil. Also salt to taste. Not as good as restaurant but close enough

I would have drained off some of the liquid first so that they turned out a little bit dryer and chunkier. I would also have used Pinto beans instead of Red Kidney beans. Pinto beans is more traditional.

Use real beans and boil them with seasoning, onions, jalapenos, cumin, garlic, chili powder salt and pepper.
Your house will smell fragrant as well.
