Good advice to new users about not rushing out and buying if they've never tried it. For those that do suffer motion sickness when first trying it, I would recommend being guided through which games to try first by someone who knows what they're doing. In many cases, the type of movement in the game defines if you're going to get nauseous or not so it's best to start with games we're there is little to no horizontal or vertical movement at all - the shark encounter in VR worlds is my go to for this one. This lets you get used to the view changing when you move your head (which is a huge adjustment for most gamers) without any other kind of movement - a stand still shooting gallery title is also a good one to try, or dare i say it - Beatsaber (but you're really focusing in only one direction there). Once you've played something like that a few times you can move onto something that has slow horizontal movement, preferably in one direction (some sort of sight seeing experience for example). The next step should be something similar but faster (something like an on rails shooter as long as it's not too hectic). From there I would go to multi directional horizontal movement that you control i.e a racing game. This is the important one and you should definitely start with a slow car on a very flat track and just increase everything gradually from there. You can train yourself for almost anything in VR using racing games of varying speeds and intensities. To this day, I still think the biggest test for motion sickness is playing Dirt Rally in VR - it's a fantastic game on the PSVR, but you really have to have your VR legs to last more than half an hour without getting queasy. I did experience that using a steering wheel and pedals helped a bit though (maybe fooling your brain a little more) and I have read putting a fan in front of you helps as well. You should spend as much time on each of these steps as you need to reduce the feeling of disorientation that leads to nausea. I love playing VR games and I feel I'm practically bulletproof for motion sickness (and that's coming from someone who has never got rid of sea sickness in more than 5 years of working at sea). I hope this helps to convince some people to make the jump to VR - the more the merrier :-)

I am beyond excited for psvr2. I was 100% against buying it until the recent GT7 gameplay came out, and immediately pre-ordered. Haven't played GT7 in a few months due to a lack of time, but I'll be taking some time away from work to play this once I receive mine.

Cheers, Kireth! Keep up the great content. 👑

Lot of overplayed negatives here... As a very experienced VR user across different generations, here's my tuppence.

120Hz will help hugely reducing motion sickness as will increased FOV, plus 10mins try out in a store is NOT enough to determin if it's for you or not. Play for longer and build up a tolerance, it works. Take ginger supplement before playing and use a nice cold fan on your face when starting out. Same applies to any VR HMD.

PSVR1 resolution was absolutely rubbish compared to PSVR2, lenses we're terrible and mura was everywhere. Current headsets look stunning at these resolutions (like Pico4) and PSVR2 will also look stunning.

PSVR2 cable is 4.5m long and much thinner and flexible than PSVR1., Plus single usbc cable connection. None of the daft breakout boxes of PSVR1.

Comfort in ANY headset can be uncomfortable.

Audio? Comes supplied with earbuds!! Can use your own headphones also. Sony PS5 ones fit perfectly.

A lot of the negativity could be aimed at ANY headset. PSVR2 does a lot to mitigate nearly all of them.

Can't wait.

120hz and higher resolution will eliminate motion sickness in psvr2 (for most people) also, you need to use Vr every day to adapt your brain to vr experience, only casual gamers can have this problem, if you will be able to put 10-50h in first few weeks then you might don't feel any uncomfortable experience.

You will get over motion sickness. Just need some time. Start slowly. Short stints. The higher frame rates will also help greatly.

VR headsets are expensive in general. BUT the tech in the PSVR 2 exceeds most, if not all, current PC VR headsets making it a relatively great deal.

I think most people who have never tried VR assume it is like watching a 3D movie. IT IS NOT. It is nothing like a 3D movie. VR is BEING INSIDE THE GAME. Until you experience it firsthand you will not know how amazing it is to feel the immersion of not playing a game - but taking part in the action of another world.

From what I have heard from the tech reviews of PSVR2 has less motion sickness potential then PSVR or even Quest 2.

PS: There are just under 100 games that has been announced for PSVR2 that will be released during Q1 and Q2.

First thing I did when I got the PSVR1 was work through motion sickness exactly as you had described. It works. You don't have to be afraid of motion sickness. Just be aware that it can be an issue, so that you don't get disappointed when you do have to stop. Went from feeling sick and uncomfortable after a spin in GT Sport to being able to do barrel rolls and such for hours in Ace Combat 7 in just a couple weeks. I'm really looking forward to seeing how all of the content in GT7 runs in VR.

Only buy It with free return Option.
I got sick with the VR1 In GT sport at Nürburgring.
The Up And down was too much and When i span i got headaches, felt like dry heating and was about to vomit.
Also i was imBalanced? for a few days.

I guess Thats why i also feel uncomfortable in a Roller coaster.
This is no joke. If you never tried vr, go and test It before you buy.

Can’t wait no matter what, for me it will change everything about sim racing. I think from now on, every AAA racing game will support VR in some way…

Good advice indeed. I’m preordering this week. Based on my HP Reverb G2 V2 and my middle of the road PC I think I know what to expect. Motion sickness is not an issue for me (anymore - I had to build up my VR legs, or pants, as anyone else and it is a real concern for some people…). As some others in the comment section, I think GT7 will be a pure blast based on my experiences with AMS2, Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally 2.0 in VR. So not a perfect image by any means but good enough and out of this world immersion. VR and racing is the goat.

Apparantly the PSVR 2 has some tech in it that has significantly reduced motion sickness. But i agree with you. You should wait until you have tried it yourself and enjoy it. Luckily for me i had no issue with motion sickness and Skyrim and Wipeout Fusion were my go to games.

This only happen on the PSVR for me with GT Sport. It just wasn't ready for it back then. Switched to PCVR and never had any issue with motion sickness, from Quest>Quest 2> and now Reverb G2. It's all about the frame rates consistency.

After 5 mins of driving on VR1 and I was crook for hours, tried about 5 times after that and same problem, so just gave up . Great advice as it’s the worst feeling for some .

Really enjoyed my PSVR1, never had an issue around my nose, but it did squeeze my temples a fair bit. I modded it a little which was a big improvement, but still a little noticeable. So yeh, different for each person.
