1:58 Actually, the crewmates are happy that they kicked you out of the ship, they voted you out after you faked doing a MedBay scan and pressing "Emergency Meeting" too many times.

Correction: dark matter "holds" galaxies together, not dark energy. Dark energy causes space to expand, with acceleration

Ever since I was 12, black holes have both terrified and fascinated me. Twenty years later and that case hasn’t changed at all. The wonders and horrors of the universe never cease to amaze me

“Most galaxies are held together by Dark Energy.” Brutal.

Fact one: you will not feel when you start falling since you are just following the curvature of space.

There is something that can travel faster than light, the expansion of the universe itself. We can see 46.1 billion light years away, which shouldn’t be possible. The universe has existed for 13.7 billion years so we should only be able to see 13.7 billion light years away because light hasn’t had enough time to travel further than that.

It would be true to say nothing can travel through space faster than light. But not to say nothing can travel faster than light. At least that’s how my smallbrain understands it anyway.

I read somewhere that if you could observe the universe while falling into a black hole, that you would experience the heat death of the universe because of how time would pass for you in comparison to everything outside of the event horizon.

Correction: the galaxies are held together by dark matter. Dark energy is the force that is propelling the universe to expand.

How did I find myself in space near a black hole in the first place? NASA doesn’t even know I exist!

Our sun doesn’t have the mass to turn into a black hole. The putter layers will just get bigger and bigger until it becomes a red giant and then will just all go away leaving behind a white dwarf
