I think "you don't need a penny, just to hang around" means they're playing for free on the street corner, so anyone can hang out and listen. "But if you've got a nickel, won't you lay your money down" means if you have the means, please throw some money in the guitar case for the band. So if you're struggling yourself, don't worry about it, but if you're not struggling, please help the band out.

This band is AWESOME! Please do more of their music. “I Put a Spell on You” is a great one, but all of their stuff is great!🌺✌️

I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. They don't have a bad song! John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. All their songs are great - "Proud Mary", "Born On The Bayou", "Bad Moon Rising", "Lodi", "Green River", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Fortunate Son", "Cotton Fields", "Midnight Special", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Up Around the Bend", "Run Through The Jungle", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Suzie Q", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "I Put A Spell On You", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.

This was the first Credence song I heard, and I was sold for life! 71 and still loving their sound.

When you're ready for more of that down home country rock from CCR, check out "Midnight Special", "Lodi", "Don't Look Now", and "Lookin' Out My Backdoor" along with many others.

Grew up listening to Creedence. They have a southern sound. They even sang a great song called Born on the Bayou but they're actually from California.

John Fogerty was a hit-writing machine between 1968-1972

I've been a huge fan since the start with Suzie Q in 68. They had hit after hit after hit back then. It was so cool waiting for their next song to be released. Also the boss jocks, deejays added much on the radio. So fortunate to have grown up then. The 60s are definitely my favorite decade for music.

This song was on an album entitled "Willie and the Poor Boys." The cover photo of the album shows the guys in CCR playing the instruments of the fictional band Willie and the Poor Boys which include a harmonica, a washtub/broomstick one string bass, a washboard and a guitar. There was a song on the album entitled "Poor Boy Shuffle" which was the result of the band playing those instruments. That one never made it to being a radio hit, but was interesting, nonetheless.

This band is my mamas favorite. This music reminds me of my childhood. She will always be with me as long as I listen to this music.

Every CCR song is amazing! I was playing my CCR playlist grilling some ribs and chicken last week and my granddaughter was jamming along. She asked me which is my favorite song, I said All of them.

John Fogerty is truly a great musician, songwriter, singer, one of the greatest ever from the USA, extremely talented. It's ashamed that they fell apart the way they did because of jealousy and selfishness from the other members of the band, but that's a common thing. It happened to The Bee Gees too. They were great as a band but John was essentially the band and he had an obsession with making great songs. He's in my top 10 greatest ever. Just think of how great they really could have been had they run into the right people supporting them, and if they hadn't have had internal issues of jealousy. The problem is that the other members didn't care about the music but rather the money, they also did not want to do what was best for the group, which was let John run the show entirely, they were more selfish about it and they wanted to do their own thing, but they didn't have his talent and ability, the last album they made proved that, but they did leave an incredible impression with the music that they were able to make.

"Run Through the Jungle" is my favorite but this is my second favorite! Y'all are so brave to hit this kind of music. Shout out to you both!

Creedence members were from California, this song sort of nails the idea of Louisiana idea/ sound of street musicians n New Orleans French Quarter, which is how Louis Armstrong started out a s a child. CCR leader John Fogerty was a genius song writer. At one time many nicknamed the band the best garage band that ever lived.
