It gets better! I’m only 23 but I have already improved immensely in my social skills and feel like I have a few people who genuinely like me for who I am. I was even an orientation leader/mentor in college and that really helped get me out of my shell and be more comfortable, confident, and feel like a leader

The following up with others really applies a lot to one of my best friends. He is very attentive. He often just checks in on me, perhaps even a little more than I’d like. He often refers to previous conversations, which makes it evident that he is a great listener. He remembers my birthday, as well as birthdays of other friends and my close family. I really care about the short list of people who are absolutely closest to me. I value fewer deep connections over multiple ones that are more shallow.

Should you care if you're just being yourself?

Yes, just to avoid mistakes, in case you're doing something wrong

The fact that I try to be super nice and unconfrontational with people and they STILL treat me like the dirt under their feet 😭

Hey Psych2go, thanks for the upload! I’ve been hanging with this channel for a while now. I really love learning about psychology and I plan on majoring in it for college, so these videos never fail to pique my interest. One thing I particularly love is your team’s ability to keep up with trends to make your videos more entertaining. The “he’s just like me fr” comment and occasional character cameos (like Komi or Zenitsu) makes the videos less stuffy and more intriguing and fun to watch. I simply adore how easy it is to learn things without growing bored. Keep up the wonderful work!❤️❤️

Video Notes !!
(You can use these for your own as well, I don't mind!)

0:00 - 0:30 — intro

0:30 - 1:11 — Embrace the Pratball Effect

You don't need to be "perfect" to be liked by others.
The Pratball Effect says that those who show their mistakes are more likely to be liked by others than those who are seen as "perfect"—perfect people could even be more disliked than others.

Imperfection = Relatable

1:12 - 1:50 — Up From Your Screens

Looking at your phone while in a conversation with someone makes them think that you're not listening/getting distracted. So put your phone away and listen to the other person—or that person may grow a disliking to you.
(Just an addition: People love being listened to! So if you don't want that person to dislike you, try listening to them more.)

1:51 - 2:48 — Follow up with Others

When people share their plans in the near future, they might be worried/excited about it that they feel the need to share it.
People will think that you actually care and that you're actually interested in them.

2:49 - 3:37 — Crack a Smile

People who express more emotions on their faces are more likeable—smiling more so.
Smiling actually helps people to build social bonds and be more likeable.

3:38 - 4:41 — Speak up

Talking more (when first introduced) imprints a postive impression in others.
Of course, you should let other people steer the conversation from time to time and listen to them as well.

4:42 - 5:29 — Don't Suppress Showing Stress

Showing signs of stress can cause people to react more positively and empathetically to you.
It engages others to cooperatively interact rather than competitvely.

Don't be ashamed of stress! It's natural and everybody experiences it atleast once in their lifetimes.

5:30 - 5:49 — Conclusion

5:50 - 6:23 — Cute Psych2Go Plushie!!

And always remember, even if it's harsh, it's important to know that not all people will like you—some even hate you 😢—but that's alright! Because there will always be people in your life who will love the way you are ❤

Thanks for making this video! for a really long time now, i thought that acting perfect and being less talkative was the way to go when meeting new people cuz certain people had judged me for being "too imperfect". Now i understand why some of my friends appreciate me for being talkative and when i follow up on them (i always thought those two traits were a curse for me).

Man, I'm so happy as I have been reading all the comments. Its a really exellent place to show that we are all humans with scars, mistakes and love in our heart, who lives in a running world with less attention than we should have. (Its not true for everybody of course)
I hope we appriciate your videos as much as it worth, and in my opinion it worth really🙂

I've been watching this channel since my first serious crush, every time I'm whipped since I come back and watch these videos. I've seen nearly all of them by now, but it's comforting when I have a crush that I can come back here remember the chrushes that did or didn't work out, tell myself to take a breath. Not let a crush take over my mind. Thanks pshyc2go, you've been with me through many people!

A lot of people do these things and still people don't like them 😅, but maybe the problem isn't you, but the people near you

I haven’t made any new friends this year, at least not physically, but I have caught up with old friends that I haven’t spoken to in a long time, and to me, I’m happy with that. Before that, I tried to new folks, but they weren’t interested in me and do want to get to know me. Having my old friends, especially my best one, are enough and caring.
