never underestimate your oponents but always underestimate your friendly

I would say map reading is the most important thing to learn when playing the game, which also goes hand in hand with map knowledge. Knowing where the enemy would be at any given moment will allow you to be more aware of your surroundings and help ping the map for potential hostiles for your friendly to be aware of. Being a team player is (in my opinion) is more fruitful than lone wolfing.

One of the few things I do that are probably things alot of decently experienced people do is constantly look behind myself even in spwn to the point of where it's a habit

My trick to learning WT was to watch youtubers play and then apply skills in game. I went from someone 2 years ago who was getting shot from what I thought was nowhere all the time, to actually knowing how to play decently well.

Great tips! Here are some I've picked up.

-Engine shutoff. Risky sometimes, but it will give you an edge in a situation where you're surrounded by enemies and don't want to give away your position. 4 times out of 5, you get the first shot off, or you wait until they all pass, then pop them one by one.

- Learn rangefinding and common positions on maps. I.e. there's always people in the town on Tunisia, there's always people on sniper hill on Ash River, etc. Comes with experience and learning the maps. If you learn it at low- and mid-tier, you'll still have good skills at top tier with laser rangefinders.

-Smoke shells save lives! Sure it might feel like a wasted round, but using smoke rounds and grenades to get from one position to another will save your life.

Step 1 - give up

General important tip for many beginners in the high tier, if you shoot a tank from the side, try to shoot centrally under the turret ring. With everyone sitting there except for the crew's driver, there's a high chance you'll land a one-shot. With a T-72, however, it would be particularly important to hit the area, as this will cause the ammo to explode, which is a 100% kill.

So nobody is gonna talk about how crazy that 3rd person shot on the MiG-21SMT was?

Just waking up and seeing this video is just the best way to start the day, and to show this to my friends to make them better and one tip i always tell my friends is, if you can't pen tanks, shoot their cannons or breach then the tracks and if you can get on their side to finish them off if not make sure to ping them with your machine guns so your allies can help you out.

I like how 'have fun' was not included, and how the five were very helpful, especially for beginners. Thanks for the video!

Most important tip:
Grind the tank that fits your play style. I mean if you love rushing into the enemy, grind something faster, if you like sniping, like me, go for the tanks like Leopard or Chally that you can sit in range and play hull down etc.

Learn the map layout. Thats arguably the most important one if you ask me.

Some of my tips: Bind your commander MG's to a button. .for tanks without Citivs at higher tiers use the commanders MG as a semi Citv cause they have thermals.

Audio queuing clip is basically submarine simulator within WT. Bonus points if you shut off the engine and just listen. Probably one of the more fun aspects of the game

One of the things I try to point out to people at TT regarding vehicle knowledge is the difference between which exact model of soviet MBT you're shooting at (I play allot of NATO). For instance, when using the IPM1, M833 will go right through the front plates of T-64A, T-72A, T-72AV, and T-80B anywhere out to 3000m from practically any angle. However, when facing any of the other MBT's, you will need to aim for weakspots regardless of distance or angle (save for extremes). I also like to point out the difference in which rounds each tank can use, as both T-72A and T-64A lack access to 3BM42 and therefore cannot penetrate either turret cheek. Additionally, T-72/T-90/T-64's autoloader reloads in 7.1 seconds, while T-80's (T-80B as exception) reloads in 6.5 seconds (Even though to my knowledge T-64 and T-80 share designs and should have the same reload rate). All things you need to consider when dealing with an opponent. Try to memorize the small differences between them, as it could mean either victory or death.

Unfortunately, Gaijin messed up engine sounds by making tanks behind you louder than those in front of you.
It is virtually impossible to hear anything in front if you've got a friendly next to you nowadays (since December).

Imho, the most important skills to have is vehicle knowledge and map knowledge. You talked about the "know your opponent" thing, but knowing your own vehicle is just as important. What are the weakspots in MY armor that I need to angle/hide to prevent his gun to go through? What are the penetration values of my shell and where should I aim for ?

And map knowledge I guess is pretty self explanatory : where are the sniping spots? Where are the lanes that you don't wanna cross etc. Knowing your ennemy will help you if you find him. Knowing the map will help you find him with an advantage on your side

Nice tips! Thanks!
I don't have many hours in GF, however it is a universal truth to not overestimate the slight advantages people use. I don't think people understand just how good you are, or like Bawz is, they assume cheating first, then as the salt wears off they think they need that tank or the ace crew or different weapon choices if they are smart, but most people would think it is graphics settings or seal clubbing or a tank that seems op, until they get it and it wasn't the answer.
Skill tends to come from learning from mistakes and applying it to future matches, which don't happen unless you just throw yourself in there and play a ton.
Then being realistic about your limitations, just like school doesn't make you smart, it can only help you to be successful, most of the things we see we don't and won't understand until we are in a place to understand it.
If we can stop pointing the finger and try to figure out how we could have better handled the situation, we will be much better off.

I would say the biggest factor in success is positioning. Learning the maps and the good spots/flanking routes and the common areas for enemies to be is the easiest way to get kills even if you are a bad tanker.
