My question is, where to buy that plastic thing or can I use an old 2L soda bottle?

So, , in today's Sun newspaper, The Queen and Prince Charles are urging people to plant a tree in honour of her platinum jubilee next year (hopefully she'll reach it). My question is, with houses being built with gardens the size of postage stamps, where are we supposed to be able to plant trees? My now 19 year old son has grown 5 oak trees from acorns, and each is in the largest pot we can find. Where can we replant them safely please near Benfleet in Essex, UK.

Why compact the soil? I heard it is unnecessary

Well it seems to me that ash die back is one problem, but then there, s the problem of developers building on woodland, and the government is allowing it to happen
