Criminals have been trying to escape prisons ever since their inception. In most cases prison breaks fail, but this isn’t always the case. Escapes don’t only happen in the movies, as they actually happen much more often than you’d like to think in the real world. It’s human nature to seek freedom and it’s going to be very clear the lengths some people will take to relish that sweet taste of fresh air. Luckily for us, most fail, but those very few, truly committed criminals who are willing to risk it for the biscuit sometimes succeed spectacularly. Ready to meet the guys that escaped and lived to tell the tale?

Fun Fact:
I am from Austria and here you cannot be convicted for a prison break. It is not illegal to break out of prison in our country. Because it is considered to be the "striving for freedom" which every human being possesses. If you manage to break out of a prison, the state itself is responsible for the fact that the prison was not escape-proof.

I love how everyone easily got caught because they thought they were safe after finding the most idiotic place to hide. (Except the abandoned house in another state, though they should've just kept running)

As for the first one, they were clearly trustees. Officers can't just take any inmate outside the gate. They hurt themselves more than anything since they were likely soon on their way out anyways. For the prison I worked at, trustees signed a document agreeing to 20 years if they were to escape.

How dumb should a person be to return to the same spot where she was arrested?

My 1st ex husband had a Aunt B that was sent to prison in the 1970s. Aunt B wanted to go to a concert that was coming to our state. Somehow Aunt B escaped, made it to the concert and after 2 days Aunt B then went back to the prison to turn herself in lmao. I said Aunt B why you do that? She said I wanted to go to the concert, I figured if I turned myself back in I would get leniency. She did, 2 years was added. Cracked me up, Aunt B was released in the late 1990s, got married and is enjoying life. I still have a friendship with her, although I wouldn't dare cross her lmao.
