Car Shopping | Did She Find The One?
With Hannah recently turning 16 and getting her license, it's time to take her car shopping. She has a very specific car she's been thinking about. Did she find the one?

The first time I got a car, my dad told me that I’d probably shouldn’t get a super duper fancy expensive one bc I was a first time driver so I would probably bump it here and there or hit some curbs, and ofc being a parent he was so right! Although it’s nice to have a super cool expensive car, sometimes it’s not the best choice for a FIRST ever car :)

Honestly, as a 20 year old girl, i’d also looove to have a jeep, but gas, taxes and other expenses are so expensive, that i went for something smaller and older yet useful. I dont know if in Arizona Suzuki has their Jimny model available, but if so i would totally recommend it, cause is a cheaper and smaller look-a-like jeep

Just a little bit of advice. Big cars gobble gas. My daughter has a convertible Jeep. It’s not very good with gas. Maybe go for smaller and less expensive! You have your whole life to get jazzy cars!

Jeep’s are in the top 5 for roll overs! Maybe later once Hannah is a bit more of a seasoned driver. Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra make great looking safe models— in a more teen friendly budget. Safety is key!

I feel like Hannah should look at other Jeeps like grand Cherokee etc. although the truck is probably the best looking in Hannah’s opinion, she’ll be paying a lot more and not get use out of the actual truck part of the car haha. I’ve also realized that your style changes a LOT when you’re younger. I think the most important is how the car is on gas, reviews about the engine and transmission, how expensive it is to fix etc. Either way I’m excited to see what Hannah chooses!

Question- you have mentioned it a few times that the kids save money and that is how they can afford cars when they turn 16. Can you talk a little bit more about how they save money (just savings account or investing etc.). Do they have jobs (I haven't heard it mentioned that Hannah a job...just that she was very focused on school). Do they get funding from the YouTube channel? Do they take out loans? Any advise would be helpful.

Has a Jeep owner I won’t advise it as a first car, we bought ours 1month and half ago and the gas is astronomical it’s like 21/22 miles per gallon besides the gas nowadays is really high and the insurance as a new driver might be a bit crazy, Wrangler is one of the most dangerous cars on the road. Its 27.9% chance of rolling over is worst among all SUVs, besides she can always get it in a couple years when she is more experienced, we bought ours cuz we love to go camping and go on beach trips. Hannah is still a student and she only needs it to get to school, run errands or go out with friends, Subaru is one of the most safest car on the market probably you would be more relaxed with her out and about! She also has the Jeep Renegade, it’s a bit more safe for her! This is my honest opinion and Hannah is a very clever and mature girl I’m sure with your guidance she will make the right decision ☺️❤️❤️❤️ love your family

The #1 goal should be for Hannah to find a safe, reliable, and easy to control car. Bonus points for good gas mileage. The last thing you need is a young driver on the road in a car that is too large for them to control. Even if you’re a great driver when you get your license things happen, you drive on unfamiliar roads or in crazy weather and suddenly it’s not so easy. I would highly recommend a small sedan style car for any new driver. Also, a brand new car is a huge responsibility, especially for a 16 year old and inevitably it is going to get scratched and dented.

I think the first car should be like a regular sedan. Like a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic, or Nissan or Mazda. Dreams car are cool when you are a couple of years into your career. Just my opinion. Hope you guys have a blessed day.

I relate to Halie so much. As long as it gets me from point A to point B I'm completely fine with it.

A gladiator for her first?! Gas gets so expensive and it’s way more expensive than what her first car should be. I mean if that’s what she wants and if she’s willing to chip in for the cost it’s fine but just know it’s going to get very pricey.

I actually had a Mini Cooper for my first car. It was super cute, had great gas mileage, and we got it for a good price. Drove it for years and never had an issue with it.

The car person in me is screaming don't get the jeep lol, those transmissions and electrical problems just seem to curse all the cars. But the newer ones have improved a lot and it seems like they are all dreaming big with the real nice ones lol. I am just so impressed with how all the kids have saved up for one and really do consider their needs vs wants.

I bought my first car at 22 because I was very very picky. But that car market in this economy is insane. My car's value is triple what I paid for it a year and a half ago because I bought it from a private seller and it had some cosmetic damage plus an issue with the engine that ended up being an easy fix (thank God for that) and I fixed both myself even though the dealership said that I should let the boys handle it. The dealerships have reached out to both my brother and in hopes of buying our used cars. But we both love our Honda Civics and don't want to part with them. Good luck and remember not to rush into anything!

I was like hannah when I was 16, a jeep is my dream car and I wanted it so bad, but they are so expensive. I ended up getting a used Toyota Corolla which I really loved until I got newer but still used Toyota Corolla. They are great cars and amazing on gas, they are small so they are easy and smooth to drive with a slight sport car feel. Mazdas are also great first cars for a lot of the same reasons and both are reasonably priced when getting used which I always recommend for first time drivers so you don’t need to freak out over little dings

LOVE Hannah’s hair! So gorgeous!

A warning about Jeep. A friend of mine bought one and it caught fire in a parking lot (not turned on for hours) the same night he picked it up. It was totaled, of course. The dealership and Jeep were impossible to deal with, and threatened to ruin his credit if he didn’t make payments on time.

Do the kids pay for their own insurance because I think that would tie in with what car they choose. I like Crystal's thinking in that she should go with a used care to start and then work her way up. I went through three used cars until I was out of college and had gotten my first job to buy my dream car.

I think everyone gets hyped about how a Jeep looks like. But when you actually drive it you have you remember their suspensions are different so they shake a lot and are not a smooth ride. I’ve had 2 different friends end up hating their Jeeps.
I learned how to drive with a Toyota Land Cruiser that did not have power steering and required the breaks to be pumped. I actually drove a Mitsubishi cargo van in high school😂🤣

Hey Hannah if you get a Jeep you can join jeep clubs. It’s super fun. Jeepers also play what we call duck, duck, Jeep! It’s where we put a little rubber duck on any Jeep’s we see (in parking lots, while sitting in traffic) we usually put our Jeep club name on the bottom or attach a little note with ribbon around the duck. It’s just a fun way to tell other jeepers your like their Jeep.

I drive a 2019 Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk and I love it! I feel like it’s a pretty practical Jeep that’s decent on gas. Being in a smaller SUV is definitely better with gas prices being what they are! That being said, it’s also important to take into account what maintenance costs for a Jeep would be as opposed to a more common Ford/Chevy/etc.
