As a young man working the grapes in Australia I met a Turkish family that took me in and looked after me till the work was done.
It was the only time I had interaction with Turks.

Ok so let me explain what's going down: The Turkish Soldier covered in khaki comes offering a cigarette and the Anzac Soldier is afraid it may be a bomb. The Turkish asks that in the battle they (Turkish Side) are attacking with Allah as their battle cry and wonders, why the Anzacs keep replying with "Bastard" questioning if their god is a Bastard (The Ottoman soldiers during the time were mostly from poor regions and the rest were uneducated people. And the anzac tired by the anxiety, stress and battle fatigue, likely in unbelief of how a god can allow such slaughter to happen, in short, does not feel the need to explain and confirms. The Turk goes on ranting that he confirmed his suspicions, that he knew it.

Many stories about this war..- Soldiers was bartering cigarette to food, medicine to water, doctors was helping both side.. some wounded Ansac soldiers were staying in Turkish soldiers during the combats... Playing silly games together... Turkish Soldiers was sending wounded Ansac Soldiers letters...
