Powercreep is a real problem in this game but even worse is Hoyo favoritism to certain characters over others. Where is the hp scaling support we got the perfect supports for Feixiao before she even released and Firefly got free support and new limited sustain in a couple weeks.

Will you rather pull/roll for a OP(Over Powered) OR a UP(Under powered) Character? Powercreep IN HSR IS a thing. THE WORST KIND

I mean their new character just do more damage and the new enemy have more health and do more damage so it's harder to kill them with the older units scaled to kill the units of their time so I would argue yes there is power creep as they keep making stronger character to keep up with the stronger enemy they are making. Like yes you can clear with blade, Luna and Jing Lyu. But even if break was not the meta, Firefly's numbers and scaling are just higher. The same with Achron and the new dps unit so yes, the new character is just stronger regardless of the meta so yes there is power creep by the definition of power creep.

Powercreep in this game is toxic. 😐 Some people overthink it far too much when the answer is simple and obvious. There's nothing confusing about it unless you're trying to cope. Powercreep is Powercreep.

Powercreep is annoying in HSR, not just because it's stressful to deal with as an f2p, but also because the main reason to play HSR is for the characters you like.

🤷‍♂️ But you get punished for liking the characters and getting attached to them because the game doesn't want you to be using them for too long. The game wants you to swiftly throw out the old for the new.

🤔 Every time someone says, "There's no powercreep, I beat MoC 12 with Herta, " they're never telling you the whole truth.

In reality, they have godtier relics, the latest character on their team with Herta as a 4th slot add-on, and/or a limited 5 star lightcone equipped on that same 4 star Herta they're bragging about. The cope and dishonesty are annoying.

💡 The only way to bypass powercreep and the game modes altering themselves per patch to support the current rate up unit is to invest into your account with money.

Either pay to win or just skip most of the game's content and cross your fingers to hope you're good enough to at least complete the main story (which I personally struggled with in Penacony because I didn't have any break characters on my account other than Harmony MC and Gallgher).

🤔 And in such a situation, you have to ask yourself if playing the game is even worth it as f2p. All the other game modes are insufferable unless you invest in the latest unit who will just go out of fashion soon enough anyway.

The dream of going on a galactic adventure with just your favorite characters is dead.

If your favorites were Blade and Kafka, the dream is dead.

Do you really wanna waste your time (and / or money) pulling for characters you don't like who might either become obsolete like Sparkle did or get powercrept to hell and back like Jingliu did anyway?

💡🤔 As an F2P, the only other way around this issue I could think of is to invest in E6'ing my favorite characters and S5'ing their lightcones whenever a rerun banner appears. That way, I don't have to force myself to pull and build characters that I don't care for.

🙃 But even this solution has a time limit. Even if I got an E6, S5 Blade, by the 2nd or 3rd anniversary of HSR, with the rate of powercreep (and game modes becoming more difficult to accommodate the higher DPS ceiling of the newest characters), even an E6, S5 Blade might become weak compared to the E0, S0 of the newest character at that time.

When that day comes, how would I feel?

Like I wasted my life? Yep. 🫠

There's no real gameplay in HSR, it's just full auto except for the few special moments in story.

You can't do anything with the characters you pulled other than full-auto or be a try-hard for boring fights outside of story without much reward for your extra effort (trying harder than everyone who either paid money or had enough free pulls to get the current patch's shiny new character.

🫣 The only real value the game has is the story with its fake multiple choice options that don't even matter.

Why not just watch a playthrough then and spend time playing another game? A game that actually encourages you to "play" it. HSR is an idle game with extra steps at this point.

😅 Even if ZZZ is easy, at least you actually get to "play" around and do things most of the time.

This being the situation, why "pretend to play" HSR as an f2p? Where's the reward in that, especially if you're not having fun. You're just doing chores, logging in everyday, doing your best to keep up. And now the game just doesn't want you to play certain modes at all if you didn't have the foresight to skip every banner except break. And according to dreams, there's yet another new playstyle being added that everyone will have to migrate to. So, break mains, good luck with that.

😐 Anyway, people will forever deny the word "powercreep" only because they don't want to accept the reality of the situation.

🤷‍♂️ When I see this being the norm, I know the devs are not going to do anything to fix it. This is HSR and it's a matter of coping and accepting it or leaving it behind for greener pastures.

⚠️ I'm not saying everyone should be upset about it. But at least accept the situation for what it is.

I'd have far more respect for someone if they say,
☺️ "yeah, HSR isn't a skill-based game, it leans towards pay to win, and it's not really a good experience for f2p's long-term. But y'know what, I still love this game despite all that, so I'm gonna keep playing even if you don't."

😅 I'd rather people just own up and say that instead of trying to get philosophical about the deep untapped profound meanings of the word known as "powercreep."

i would prefer characters to be of similar strenght and just bring new playstiles like in genshin, acheron is cool, but she could have been less strong and still be the best in her niche. You already build dps of different elements but now it´s all just buy the new character and it sucks

Feixao is a better version of acheron her crowd control is bigger, she can group more enemies and this correlates to damage and their ulti is basically the same, why use yanquing when you can use jinglu
it's very rare for a old character to not be powercrepted in genshin there very few zhongli, bennet

everybody that says "there's no powercreep bcs you can still clear everything with 4 stars " surely have not seen the graphs of boss HP over time and the HP inflation trend we've been experiencing. You can have all the supports, all the god tier relics, all the game knowledge in the world, if your character's multipliers are not built to do as much damage as newer dps, and if the game is balanced around those, there is no say around it, eventually they will get obsolete. It might have not happened yet, but it certainly will if hoyo continues the trend.

I wonder if content creators live in the same reality as the normal average player does. Power creep is a very obvious problem in this game. Denial of reality does not make reality any less real. You're just deluding yourself.

For me, newer characters can really clear the content faster. It feels awful if your old characters cannot clear as fast as they used to (mostly in end game content). Either way, (get new characters or hyper-invest to minmax your older characters) will require time and patience. Hopefully, the gap between older and newer characters will not be so far that you have no choice but to pull.🎉 But then again, enjoy the game at your own pace.

Power creep itself is not that big of a deal, but it is becoming a big problem because it's not the only issue with the game. Multiple issues in HSR are creating a big problem, and making the powercreep situation look and feel worse.

-raising DPS ceiling + constant enemy HP increase.
-hoyo extremely greedy business model.
-lack of viable alternative options for LC.
-LC have no purpose, and are working the same way as an eidolons.
- low skill expression.

If it didn't take months to gear characters, i wouldn't mind pulling a character every patch. There's just not enough resources

There is just so many annoying mechanics in the game that unless you bring the counter team to that mechanic you will struggle. Back then wether you played hypercarry, follow up, dot or whatever, as long your dps is high enough you will clear. But now there a ton of mechanics that reduce your dmg unless you bring the counter to it, or you deviate from the ideal team to counter the mechanic but this in turn also lowers your dps. the reason the new units feel stronger because they can ignore those mechnaics one way or another, firefly always works as long the enemy can be broken, acheron doesnt care as long the enemy can be debuffed and feixiao just needs the enemy to be weakness broken by her or her team, and even if they arent she still better than older dps. the same with sustainers, fu xuan cant sustain against half the MoC 12 floors unless she perma skills to get enough energy, houhou will require multiple retries unless you manually heal your team to full each time as enemies nowadays easily do 2500+ dmg to a single target in one attack wave, which in turn drains your skill points, reducing your dps -> making the team feel weaker.

So yeah, power creep isnt as big on paper/pure numbers, but in the player experience its extremly frustrating when even your well invested older teams with early eidolons and sig LCs struggles to clear content other newer characters clear at E0 without sweating.

I really hope they tune down the difficulty, or at least give us more variety off buffs. pure fiction and apocalyptic shadow is always limited in the teams that benefit from its buffs (pretty much always follow up and super break, never skill point or non-ult hypercarry), making all the others much harder to clear with even on same investment.

Sparkle just taking a break from being top 5. Once a Sp hungry op character comes out Sparkle will be back on top.

Whoever pulling Jingliu in her rerun, like me, is in for a fuckening time. You barely able to build her up JUST IN TIME to realize, she can't even clear shit anymore. I'm not even talking the shitty ass not proper build one, I'm talking about the Jingliu with signature, max all traces, with good teammate like Sparkle + robin Both also with Signature, and correct set with ok Ratio of 50/200 raw number before the enhance state. And I'm not even expecting to clear MoC12, I can't even clear shit in MoC 11. Like What the fuck. One patch ago she was the peak, then 1 patch later She can't clear shit, this is not even a normal powercreep, this is horseshit powercreep.

i dont mind newer characters powercreeping older characters released like 1 year ago. would be really boring after a while imo. but mostly newer characters powercreep themselves with their eidolon2 lol. thats what i dont like. e2 dhil, acheron, firefly etc. they all literally turn into whole different level of a character with e2. wish eidolons were just stat boost but their gameplay is also changing with e2 and its sooo expensive

The buffs in the end-game modes are partly responsible for the impression that newer units are crazy overpowered. Tier lists should be updated once those buffs are changed to suit the next new unit.

Btw me and my Bladey still clearing MoC in 2 cycles.

well i'm feeling it like my Dhil e2 s1 strugling with the endgame content (MOH) while on genshin my highly invested units still useable even to this day, heck even xianling or other 1.0 character on genshin still strong to this day.

The powercreep happened the moment they added units that can "Implant weakness and Ignore weakness resistance" cuz this just makes these units brute force everything.
also cuz they just straight out make sponge mobs instead of making a new mechanic that a certain unit can benefit from.

Although in the grand scheme of things, former characters can still be used in end game and clear it without any issue, the only thing is that these "NEW UNITS" are just stronger.
