My family is Mexican and this is a traditional dish for us to make on Christmas. 🎄🥰

I’m second generation Mexican, grandparents from Spain. For Christmas we always make traditional Mexican dish, romeritos en mole and traditional Spanish dish bacalao (without the jalapeños), not in a torta but in a dish and both the same day. Yummmm. Soak bacalao in water for several hours, it’ll soften and will take some of the salt out.

I use to make it as a salad, with romaine lettuce tomatoes and bacalao with a drizzle of oil and fresh ground pepper. Great for a summer salad

Us folks from Mexico city know exactly what you're talking about. Never tried jalapeños on it it but, we use homemade habanero chili oil. It's fucking amazing.
