Ok, you need a small car and the budget is 10 grand, there are loads of options out there but these next 5 are simply better than the rest.

Now at this budget the important factors really should be reliability, safety, running and maintenance costs, and practicality

But just because the budget is $10,000, it doesn’t have to be some boring sensible box on wheels either, so we’ve also tried to take into account that these things should actually be fun to drive and dare I say it, even a bit cool.

What did you think? Did we miss anything? Let us know in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe to stay up to date with all of out latest content!

At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.

Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.

Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.

So we want to hear your thoughts. Hit us up in the comments, or on Instagram and Facebook.

We’d love nothing more than for you to give us as much feedback as possible, so we can make this channel the best it can be.

The Jazz is a cracker of a car. Unbelievably capacious and built like a tank

Just bought a 13 fit in the US yesterday. Thanks for the videos I've seen from you that helped me make my decision.

This is all wrong, what people on a low budget should do is allow themselves to be sucked into an unsustainable loan on a 50k car bought from a dodgy wholesaler, without getting a mechanical inspection, at the age of 19. Then find all the issues. Ran into this persona the other day, he seemed really happy at the time, loved his car.

Already have a 2016 Mazda 2 but in the rare sedan turbo diesel version. Brilliant. The 6spd AT is fantastic and the 250Nm leaves any 2.5li CVT driven shitbox in the dust. Also, runs on 1 molecule of diesel per week or 65-75 mpg.

We own the i20, 1.2, 2011.
It was imported to Switzerland from Turkey.
Happy with it 😊

Hammer Auto has nailed it again. Rooly like your videos guys.
I'd happily own any of the cars recommended here, and agree with winner, the Jazz is the Swiss Army knife of cars, it's a reliable little Tardis.

Own a 2014 1.5 auto jazz with the body kit. Added some 15s and love the car. Was an upgrade from an accord euro. Great car too but can't best the practicality and fuel economy.

I've had a 2014 i20 since it was 6 months old with only 6k kms and now has just clocked 101k. I admit the thing has been driven pretty damn hard, especially through out my p plater days but it's still going strong with no major issues at all. Only thing I have to pick at is the paint quality. Mine is silver and all the plastics, so bumpers, mirrors, handles, etc.. have faded and cracked like crazy. Mind you, it has been outside majority of the time I've had it, but have seen plenty of other silver i20s with the same thing. And the white ones tend have the paint flaking off the metal. But if you're someone who doesn't particularly care bout that, they're definitely a very cheap and reliable car to own.

For the slightly larger? Has to be the Mazda 3 BK SP23. I just can’t think or a more fun and bulletproof car.

As a 1.4 Hyundai i20 owner, it's a super fun car to chuck about, it's super slow but that to me adds some fun to it building/keeping revs up, light direct steering, easy to drive and park, and it's cheap to run, what more could you want from a little runabout, even my V8 loving dad enjoys driving it around.

Hello from England. I have a 2009 Suzuki Swift diesel. And what a bloody good car it is. As a single bloke with no kids, the lack of storage space just isn't an issue. I bought it about 3 months ago and only paid £500, about 880 Australian dollars for it. It had 149, 790 km when I got it. Bargain.

I did look at a post update 2 2005 before settling on my 2008 3 June 2021 and the bigger car had more km than liked but was a lot safer.I will admit bigness sucks but it saved my life

I actually love the MK5 Fiesta 2007, the boxy little nugget I’ve had since 2007 and it hasn’t missed a beat. Got a 1.6l DOHC engine and it hauls butt in manual form. I’d be surprised if any on this list would be quicker except the Swift Sport. For a Ford it’s reliable but is a German made vehicle.

Yeah, the Jazz absolutely deserves the top spot! Everyone I've known who's had one has loved it.

Eagerly awaiting the other categories. Thank you!

Big shame about the current market. A 2018 Jazz with 50k+ kms is basically still at msrp.
