Tips and tricks to help you survive the zombie shooter Days Gone. Days Gone can be a tough challenge at the start and there is a lot to learn. So these tips and tricks should help you out if you are new to the game but there are also a few things the game doesn't tell you or doesn't explain properly.

I've tried to keep this relatively spoiler free but there may be some mild spoilers. Please follow this guide if you are new to the game for a head start.

Pro tip: buying bike stored ammo for $400 is a lot cheaper to refill all ammo than to individually buy full ammo for your rifle, saw guns, and side arms.
Simply buy $400 and get to the bike and retrieve it then buy it again for safe measures. By end game, Youl have 4 full ammo replenishes on the bike.

I’ve never seen anyone mention this, not sure why, it’s the most useful tip imo

“Tip” if you go out on foot near a camp and pick up a gas can and return it to the camp it will remain there for most of the time you’re playing and you won’t have to pay for gas at the camp

If you dont have a molotov and need to burn down a nest, you can throw a gas can by it, shoot it and the nest will burn

Bought this about a week ago, great game. It had me and the Grandkids jumping out of our sits. If time a freaked came out of a trunk, my Gdaughter jumped off my chair and ran into another room I leaped and so did my Gson. What a great game!!!

Also worth mentioning is the ranged skill tree. It has incredible skills, such as the double penetration on your bullets, extra ammo, faster reload, health on headshot, reload while running, weapon accuracy, weapon recoil, and more. You need it to take out hordes and it makes the game so much easier.

The game can be approached from wherever the player feels like, even blindly. Stay away from the Hordes until much later. The great thing about hordes is they don't respawn to their original strength. So, the best tip is to put your bike within running distance, facing the way you want to make your escape (having to turn your bike around to ride away from a horde is certain death).
Ride your bike until the freaker's give up chasing you. Get off. Shoot some straggles, prompting other straggler's to leave the horde and come running at you which let's you easily thin them out even more. Go back and repeat these steps until the horde is small enough to take out w/out having to run away. I found the most damage is accomplished by getting close enough to the horde to throw explosive's directly into the swarm before they're aware of your presence. This grabs their attention so run like hell to that bike. Planted explosive's will only do so much to thin the herd, and can take you out with them. So use your best judgement when placing them. The closer they are to the horde's "water cooler" the more you'll take out, as they thin out the more running space you give them.

I am playing this game right now. I love everything about it. The graphics and story are great. I love stealth killing the zombies. I hope they create a Days Gone 2 and expand on the story, coop with another person would be a nice addition.

Number 1 tip. Loot all the human npc’s you can, when the game is over essentially, only zombies will appear, and you can’t get the trophy for collecting like 500 items from bodies.

whenever you go to a location, soon as you get off your bike quicksave the game. if you dont and you die at that location you will loose most of your looted stuff.

It’s worth noting for the ambush camp bunkers, you also get a crafting recipe for a different item or weapon at each of these as well. So always worth it. You don’t have to look for it, just pick up the map that demists the area, which will also show you things like infestation nest exact locations and such, and you’ll also get the recipe at the same time. You also have to do this to actually clear the camp and get the points as well. But it will tell you to do this and give you a little red circle area of where the bunker is located you have to find. These also include a bed, you’re safe in here, and a gun locker. So a home away from camp at each one of these as needed. And you can restock your ammo at gun lockers. It charges it to the closest camp.

I prefer the sniper rifle over the crossbow.. i didnt use it once.. and the sniper takes out other snipers much easier

Your method for taking out your first horde is a good one, I would recommend taking out the death train horde as the first - it's smaller, blowing up the fuel truck takes out most of them, and there are other explosives around to take out the rest. I waited until I had a decent machine gun, the MWS is fine, before taking on this first horde :). Bunkers also give you 'recipes' for crafting weapons. Great tips!

"Tip" the hero speakers will sometimes be in the middle of the lights. Usually there are two for each primary building and one for like those little checkpoints buildings but make sure to look at the lights. There might be one in the middle of the lights.
